Genre-bending singer-songwriter Rayland Baxter will return to Colorado this summer for a special co-bill with celebrated troubadour Langhorne Slim at the historic Fox Theatre on Thursday, August 7, 2025. The one-night engagement reunites two of modern Americana’s most arresting voices for an evening that promises intimacy, invention, and unfiltered musical joy.
Fresh off the touring cycle behind his widely praised fourth studio album If I Were a Butterfly, Baxter continues to stretch the boundaries of folk-rock and psychedelia. Self-produced in part at Thunder Sound—a converted Kentucky rubber-band factory where he immersed himself for more than a year—the record glows with Beatles-esque pop flourishes, lush orchestration, and field-recorded textures drawn from the rural soundscape that surrounded its creation. The collection features cameos from Shakey Graves, Lennon Stella, members of Cage the Elephant, Alabama Shakes’ Zac Cockrell, Motown legend Bobbye Hall, and the late pedal-steel master Bucky Baxter, Rayland’s father and a longtime Bob Dylan collaborator. Live, Baxter and his band translate that studio alchemy into kinetic, free-flowing sets that balance soaring melody with improvisatory grit.
Co-headliner Langhorne Slim has spent the past two decades channeling equal parts punk energy, folk tradition, and soul-baring lyricism into a catalogue that feels both timeless and immediate. Lauded for the raw honesty of his songwriting and the electrifying communion of his performances, Slim moves effortlessly from hushed confessionals to roof-raising anthems—often within the span of a single song. His recent releases showcase an artist at the height of his storytelling powers, distilling hard-won wisdom into incandescent hooks.
