Today, GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, producer, and Gov’t Mule front man Warren Haynes has released his new album, The Whisper Sessions, via Fantasy Records. The 9-track digital-only collection, produced by Haynes, features stripped-down versions of select songs off his recent solo output, Million Voices Whisper. The intimate renditions peel back the layers to spotlight Haynes’ soulful voice, masterful guitar work, and the heartfelt storytelling at the album’s core. PRESS HERE to listen. The Whisper Sessions also includes two poignant covers including a stunning version of the Allman Brothers Band classic “Melissa” with Haynes’ longtime ABB bandmate Derek Trucks, who is featured on three songs on the new album. Of their new variation, which Haynes and Trucks completed in one take, Goldmine Magazine has already declared, “Haynes helps summon the spirit of Gregg Allman in a version that will give listeners chills.” To celebrate today’s album release, the duo has released the official performance video for “Melissa” – PRESS HERE to watch.

“These songs were initially recorded as live performance promo videos for Million Voices Whisper, without any plan to release them,” shares Haynes. “After listening back, we decided we should share them. These versions really shed light on the process of how the songs were written, stripping them down to their barest form, where people get some insight as to where they started. The Whisper Sessions puts the focus on the songs and my voice. We thought the fans would really enjoy hearing them.”

The Whisper Sessions is a rare, unfiltered glimpse into the essence of each track – where every lyric and note resonate with newfound clarity and depth. This is beautifully showcased on the singles “These Changes” featuring Trucks, who co-wrote the song (PRESS HERE to watch the official performance video), “You Ain’t Above Me” (PRESS HERE to watch the official performance video), and “From Here On Out” (PRESS HERE to watch the official performance video). Also included on the new collection are reimagined versions of the Million Voices Whisper singles “This Life As We Know It” and “Real Real Love” featuring Trucks, whose lyrics were initially started by Gregg Allman.

Million Voices Whisper, released in November 2024, is Haynes’ fourth solo album and marked his first solo release in nearly a decade. The chart-topping, self-produced album, hailed as Warren’s best yet, also includes guest spots from Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson on the single “Day of Reckoning.” PRESS HERE to listen to Million Voices Whisper and PRESS HERE for the deluxe version.

Haynes, who partnered with Gibson earlier this year for the release of his first signature guitar, the Gibson Warren Haynes Les Paul™ Standard, is currently on the road with Gov’t Mule on their Back In The Saddle Tour. The first leg of the headlining trek wraps tonight (September 12th) in West Springfield, Massachusetts, following a five-date run of co-headlining shows with Tedeschi Trucks Band. On October 10th, the GRAMMY-nominated quartet, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, will kick off the next leg of the tour, stopping throughout the East Coast and Midwest until November 1st.
