Why did you fall in love with rock and roll?
I ask that, not particularly sure you love rock and roll at all, in its purest definition, anyway.. It isn’t heard all that often these days.. Music genres in recent years seem to have splintered into multitudes of subgenres, in some ways – diluting the original archetype. With vintage sounding indie bands being a flavor of the year, many bands are relying too heavily on their influences and failing to create something new. In contrast, The Mynabirds create a lively musical synergy on their debut album, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood. They do not bash the listener over the head with their influences. Instead, they subtly incorporate soul and R & B arrangements into their pop rock sound.

Matt who plays mostly guitar, also dabbles and even builds with his students many African instruments such as the Mbira or thumb piano and Marimbas.
We Are Wolves have announced a new run of U.S. tour dates in April. The tour, which follows their previously announced Canadian shows in support of fellow lupine-monikered Wolf Parade, will take them from The Echo in Los Angeles, CA, on April 8th and up the west coast to The Vera Project in Seattle, WA, on April 13th. The band will then head back eastward through Canada on the Pop Montreal-sponsored POP OFF!
