In the Bleak Midwinter, snow has fallen—snow on snow—and the sun hides behind the grey clouds for days at a time. The mind wanders to tropical coasts with warm sunshine and green vegetation, preferably with calm waves lapping on the shore. Bands have been putting on winter concerts in the sunnier climes for years, but what about the rest of us? We forlorn fans who do not possess the time or considerable funds to attend such a show—are we destined to trudge through the snow wanting for spring? And what of our favorite bands confined to cramped indoor venues till the sun returns to the sky?

Sonic wanderer and time traveler Luke Tyler Shelton today releases his fifth single “Hell Of A Ride” via Concord Records. Recorded with a full band at Sound Studios in Hollywood alongside Shooter Jennings and Jonathan Wilson, Shelton set out to create a sound that is less produced and more authentic. The result is soul-soothing rock-and-roll at a windows-down, cruising pace.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Crucial Reggae Sundays returns for its highly anticipated 5th season of free reggae music at the historic Bandshell in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The seventh annual FestForums conference kicked off on February 12th at the historic Miramonte Hotel in Santa Barbara. The location offered a stunning backdrop overlooking East Beach and the Santa Barbara pier. The festival began in 2015 and was conceived by longtime resident Laurie Kirby, a former entertainment lawyer. After a few years off during the pandemic, the festival has become an annual Santa Barbara event.

The Swamp Blues are alive and well in Louisiana and what better source to report on the Blues than Louisiana’s very own multi-Blues Music Award-winner and Grammy nominee Kenny Neal, who’s releasing his new single, “Devil’s In The Delta,” along with his son, Micah Willis, on February 28th from Verdict Music. “Devil’s In The Delta” is being distributed by The Orchard.
