Universal Sigh releases new single ‘Bedrock & Paradox’

Universal Sigh released a new single on August 22, 2019 entitled “Bedrock & Paradox”. It is an upbeat, rock tune inspired by the struggle to remain present in the information age. The name of the song references the title of a chapter in the book Desert Solitaire by author and activist Edward Abbey. Bedrock & Paradox is a reminder that no one is immune from feelings of isolation and separation, even in times of abundant digital interconnection.

“It feels good to release new music after spending so much time on the road the past few years focusing on performance and composition,'' says guitarist and band manager Pace Maynard. “Bedrock is a staple of our live show that our fans will recognize and we sought to capture that energy in the studio environment.”

Bedrock & Paradox is the first of several singles releases planned ahead of Universal Sigh’s unnamed sophomore album which is expected to be released January 2020. It is the first glimpse into the diverse selection of tunes that were selected to be given the studio treatment.

Universal Sigh Releasing Sophomore Album and Announcing Tour

Universal Sigh is releasing their sophomore studio album, Cherish, on Friday, January 10th, 2020. Produced by Tomás Uribe, the album features 8 concise tracks that capture a wide spectrum of progressive rock, blues ballads, and soulful funk. The quartet recorded at Stanwood Studios in Atlanta, GA. Two singles from the record were released in 2019 and the band plans to continue to share additional material, including new singles and visual media throughout 2020.

Universal Sigh maintains a busy touring schedule averaging over 100 shows per year and will host their album release party at Aisle 5 in Atlanta, GA. The album celebration will continue with a subsequent voyage out west. The band is scheduled to play fourteen cities, including seven in Colorado complete with a headlining performance at Cervantes Other Side in Denver. The band will return to the Southeast by way of Texas.

In regards to the upcoming tour, Band member Pace Maynard remarks “We will play the songs from the album, in addition to more recent material we’ve written. We have a whole new batch of songs for the road and have plans to return to the studio this year to record more music.”

Universal Sigh also curates and hosts their own music and arts festival, called Sigh In July, in Athens, GA. The multi-day event showcases national, regional, and local talent to inspire consciousness and foster musical community. The 5th Annual Sigh in July Music & Arts Festival will take place at Live Wire Athens in July 2020.
