"From Jahmaica To De World" is the first solo reggae album from former Wailers frontman Gary "Nesta" Pine. Featuring legends in the world of reggae including Devon "Drakes" BradshawIan "Beezy" ColemanGlen Da Costaand more, the new project finds Gary returning to his Jamaican roots. "I have traveled the world -- with the mighty Wailers and on my own -- bringing a little piece of Jamaica with me to the world. It was only fitting that I return to "The Axe", a studio that I helped to build in my home town of Port Antonio, Jamaica, to create this album. I hope you enjoy this message of peace -- because it's coming from my heart to yours."Gary “Nesta” Pine stormed Jamaica’s reggae scene in 1989 as the lead singer for City Heat, one of Jamaica’s most popular bands. After emigrating to the U.S. in 1992, City Heat traveled the world touring with Super Cat, while playing an integral part in the development of New York City’s underground Reggae scene. Gary quickly became known as a charismatic and crowd-motivating artist. He is also known and loved for his distinctive voice, his magnetic personality, his attention-grabbing stage presence and his energetic performances.Gary became the lead singer for the Wailers Band in 1998. This legendary band, led by Aston “Family Man” Barrett, performed and created many hits with Bob Marley during Bob’s lifetime. During Gary’s 8 years with the Wailers, he played an important part in music history by spreading what is considered the most revolutionary, yet peaceful and ground-breaking music in modern times. Fans and critics alike are comfortable that Gary never attempted to imitate Bob; rather, he brought a level of creativity and raw intensity to the stage that kept each performance fresh, while performing his own original tunes “Light it Up”, “Dem Wouldn’t Live”, “Fighting for the Right Thing”, and “Be Wise”.In 2006, Gary took an unlikely journey into the world of European dance music by collaborating with acclaimed French DJ and producer, Bob Sinclar. Gary was featured on 4 songs on the Western Dream album: “Love Generation”, “Shining from Heaven”, “Miss Me”, and “Give a Lil Love”. Each song carries a unique vibe – from the catchy dance melody of “Love Generation” to the smooth inspirational ballad, “Give a Lil Love”. “Love Generation”, the first single released off of Western Dream, quickly catapulted to the top of the international dance charts, selling 120,000 copies in its first two weeks of release. “Love Generation” quickly became an ‘anthem’ and was used as the theme song for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and for “Star Academy”, the French version of “American Idol”. Gary received the Platinum award from the German Ministry of Sound for selling more than 300,000 copies of “Love Generation” in Germany. He also performed at the TMF Awards in Belgium where he received the Platinum award for selling more than 300,000 copies in Belgium. The 2007 Bob Sinclar single, “Sounds of Freedom” which features Gary Nesta and Dollarman, also reached Number 2 on the Billboard Magazine Hot Club Play.Gary’s improbable voyage into the dance music genre has allowed this “reggae man” to take a new and exciting journey. 2012 will see a new single featuring Shaggy and a full-length reggae album.

With the uniquely named album, Peripheral Drift Illusion, set for release October 10th, John Dylan is following up the infectiously dreamy ‘Get Beyond’ with the second single from the experimental record, ‘If I Want You To’, which presents an entirely new musical personality to the multifaceted songwriter.

The new single drops down the tempo, leading with a sleepy, tremolo laden guitar line that echoes remnants of Queens of the Stone Age, whilst John’s light-as-air vocals float through the kaleidoscopic static, as walls of fuzz invade the song and drag it to much darker ground. However, this is before the song’s outro, a maelstrom of swampy effects and the intensified kick drum take things up a notch, showing a considered and intelligent structural progression from the talented songwriter. ‘If I Want You To’ displays another side to Dylan which was previously unseen on the upbeat, euphoric stylings of ‘Get Beyond’.

Speaking on the subject of the track, John notes that ‘If I Want You To’ is a meditation on privilege and power dynamics: ‘The droning void in space, delicate vocals, and tension are all about discomfort, evoking how unsafe it feels when your well-being is in someone else’s hands: The feeling of ever-present danger looming above people who are vulnerable.’

Multi-instrumentalist and producer extraordinaire, John Dylan, has had music running through his veins before he was even born, with his parents attending concerts for Elvis Costello, Bob Marley and Stevie Ray Vaughn whilst he was still in the womb. But now, after previously having exhibited his work through the vehicle of the genre-defying band Terrene, (who had their record produced by Phil Ek: The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Built to Spill), John has now gone solo, bearing the load on his reliable talents as a songwriter.

Dylan’s ‘Open Source Music Volume 2’ for ‘If I Want You To’ includes no fewer than 22 b-sides capturing some highly emotional and expressionist recordings made after John left his family and high school as a teenager. John commented that ‘I felt very isolated and angry and was wringing a lot of feeling out of myself during the creation of these recordings.’

To confine Dylan’s eclectic stylings to a single genre, or compare him to a single band would be a near impossible task. With a life revolving around music, John has formed some unique standpoints when it comes to his work. For example, whilst he may be considered a ‘rock’ artist, John enjoys flipping analog rock aesthetics on their head, using a completely digital workflow that utilizes complex technology such as guitar-triggered MIDI and VST-driven keyboards.

Also, for each single, John is embracing his counterparts in the hip-hop, dance and electronic cultures by allowing the songs to be ‘open sourced’, holding a remix competition for DJs and other electronic artists to sample and rework his songs, with the chance of appearing on the widely released version of the single. The contest is being hosted by Indaba music, and the previous competition for ‘Get Beyond’ has seen over 50 entries from all over the world, spanning genres as diverse as reggae, hip-hop and future garage.

Although John takes inspiration from a wide range of sources such as Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and The Beatles, his style draws similarities with the likes of The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala. Previously, John was involved with underground math-rock band, Mars Accelerator, who played alongside Modest Mouse and released an album produced by Steve Fisk, who coincidentally, had worked with Nirvana. In the past, John has also supported experimental outfit, Of Montreal, and the artwork for Peripheral Drift Illusion is being created by John Lennon’s bandmate, Klaus Voormann, who also designed the cover for the Beatles’ classic record, Revolver. Klaus is also creating the upcoming single artwork, alongside Jesse Michaels, former lead singer of seminal punk band, Operation Ivy.

The latest offering from Balkan Beat Box’s fifth studio album, Shout It Out is a brand new video of the single, “Kum Kum” featuring Yemenite Israeli sister-trio, A-WA whose vocals add a bit of feminine charm to an otherwise rhythmically complex track.

In addition to the music video, there are three forthcoming remixes of “Kum Kum” that bring Balkan Beat Box into another sphere, by expanding the single into an electronica dream. The first remix is from Serbian electronica duo Shazalakazoo, whose own music is spiced with flavors from the Balkans. The second is by Israeli DJ Yanivi who is part of Zebra Music Agency in Tel Aviv and topped the Beat Port charts with his track "Rock This Joint". Also delivering a remix and part of Zebra Music Agency in Tel Aviv is DJ BrainDeaD whose last remix was dubbed one of the best songs of 2016 by Diplo.

Lastly, “Kum Kum” has been synched in an international television and digital ad campaign for Motorola’s Moto x4, which was recently unveiled in Berlin. This blasts BBB into the stratosphere, linking their cleverly swirling track with the fresh face of the Moto x4, and the individuality it embodies. Watch the ad here.

About Balkan Beat Box:

For over a decade,  Balkan Beat Box  has crafted wildly imaginative grenades of enlightenment and garnered critical acclaim, an engaged fan-base, and earned the respect and admiration of other artists. The collective’s latest dance missive, Shout It Out, is an epiphanic entry in its five-album catalog. It’s an album of personal reflection ensconced in fiery creativity—it’s both anthemic and introspective. Musically, Shout It Out, also represents a fascinating crate digging production breakthrough in terms of crafting that perfectly exotic sonic Molotov cocktail.

Their previous work has been sampled by Jason Derulo and rapper Mac Miller (produced by Diplo), they’ve collaborated with Stargate on Fifth Harmony’s song “Worth It” and Rhianna’s theme in the animated film, Home. BBB have also been featured on Bomba Estereo’s new album. Their music most recently appeared in FIFA 17 and in the Andy Samberg movie Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. In addition, as a collective and individually, members of BBB have worked with platinum-certified artist Asaf Avidan, Yemenite singing trio A-WA, and had placements in numerous other Hollywood feature films.
