Like a rum soaked breeze off a tropical beach or an all night BBQ on a sandy shore (complete with tequila and bikinis) comes the music of Joe Moorhead. The surfer rock band's tunes are the soundtrack to your ultimate summer. Like Jack Johnson, Sammy Hagar and the Dave Mathews Band before them, Joe Moorhead creates a laid back groove with insightful lyrics about love and life for a wholly original sound that provides a nice escape from today's tough times.Born in the most unlikely of places, the gritty urban jungle of Cleveland, Ohio, the band took their laidback attitude and tropical party mentality on the road playing college campuses, music festivals and venues throughout the Americas.  Gathering up fans and building momentum along the way like a whipping island breeze about to transform into a tropical storm.  An ever growing fan base of loyal fans already know the magic in the music of Joe Moorhead.  And so should you.  See Joe Moorhead Live.Check Out Their Breezy First Single:“Sunshine Driving”Premieres Exclusively On Grateful WebLook for their Debut CD: Tides Are Rising”Out Early August 2013.“Life Truly Is A Beach” for Joe Moorhead.  Join The Party.

There is no songwriter like David Carroll. He calls himself the “hardest-working Austro-Czech-American-Irish-Jew in showbusiness,” and his uniquely syncretic background comes across in his tunes. Like a modern day Woody Guthrie – who he paid tribute to with two tribute concerts in 2012, covering songs like “All You Fascists Are Bound To Lose” -- Carroll cuts the crap and talks about the things that really matter, with a performative flair picked up from years of experience playing live in France. For Carroll, both love and protest matter. Peppering his acoustic-driven folk with signposts of the 21st century – bleeps and bloops, synth squeals, electronic drums – he makes the case that protest can only work with love, that love is an integral part of positive change. As a spoken-word sample in single “Holding On To Love” argues, “People don’t know how dangerous love songs can be.”That quote comes from none other than Irish legend James Joyce, whose epic Ulysses served as the primary inspiration for “Holding On To Love”. As Carroll recounts, “James Joyce condensed the 15.000 verses and 10 years of Homer’s Odyssey into a one-day novel. Joseph Carroll, my Grandfather, adapted Joyce’s masterpiece into a one-hour stage play, Mr. Bloom and the Cyclops. I tried to cram Ulysse’s adventures into a six-minute pop song, a nocturnal odyssey through city bars and backstreets.”So Carroll’s post-Occupy manifesto is just as much about love as it is protest, just as much about looking back to a past we can learn from as it is about forging something new and wonderful. Combining a sly sense of humor with a perceptive take on the realities of the day, he tackles topics like voting difficulties (“Can’t Vote”), planned obsolescence (“Broken Cardoor Blues”), and the end of the 1% (“Wall Street is Burning”). He even covers “This Land Is Your Land,” imploring us to take the land back, to make it ours again, to wrestle it away from the corporations and private entities that work to disenfranchise us, dispossess us of our value, and turn us into mindless, unthreatening consumers on the margins.Yet throughout, David Carroll somehow maintains his optimism. Throughout his years in Europe, he has encountered too many wonderful people to give up hope. And Songs of Love and Protest reminds us that a better world is possible – we just have to get out there and work for it

The MuseBox announced today that Joe Moorhead has revealed a new video for his song, “Drinks in Our Hands.” The beach-based video, which includes exclusive footage of Moorhead in concert, was directed by Marcus Morelli and released by Squeaky Chair Music. Moorhead, who has recently received comparisons to Jack Johnson and the Dave Matthews Band for his laidback style of acoustic pop, is currently on tour in support of his full-length record Tides Are Rising.

According to musiccourtblog.com, the sounds and images of Moorhead’s work transport listeners to a happier (and warmer) place: “What we need is some music to help us ward away the chill in the air and focus only on the chill of cold beer, warm sunshine, and a beach somewhere. Thankfully, we have Joe Moorhead.” Moorhead and director Morelli collaborated on “Drinks in Our Hands” with that exact sentiment in mind. The new video strikes a familiar chord with fans of Moorhead’s previous feel-good, tropical visuals. Like his recent hit “Bad Day,” “Drinks in Our Hands” sees Moorhead, his band-mates, and several friends in full relaxation mode while surveying the golden beach and blue water. Interspersed throughout the video are clips of Moorhead performing with his band. The mood is laidback, and true to the song’s title, cold beverages abound.

Moorhead hails from Cleveland, Ohio, an unlikely city of origin for a band known for such happy-go-lucky, tropical pop. Moorhead has elevated his band from its Midwest origins by offering listeners a view on life much more common in a different region: “The vibe of my music definitely comes from my years back and forth to the Virgin Islands, and not Cleveland!” Over the past few years, Moorhead and his band have played hundreds of college campuses, music festivals and venues throughout the Americas.

While a full list of Moorhead’s shows is available on his website, the following holiday dates stand out:

  • Cinco De Mayo, May 5th @ Burntwood Tavern (Chagrin Falls, OH)
  • “Phlocking Of The Phaithful”, June 14th @ Mojito Bay (Put-In-Bay Island, OH)
  • July 3rd @ Burntwood Tavern (Chagrin Falls, OH)
  • July 4th @ McCarthy's Downtown (Cleveland, OH)
  • July 5th @ Upper Deck Bar & Grill (Akron, OH)

The Musebox today announced that Dallas rock and rollers Dead Flowers will embark on a highly anticipated tour this April and May. Dubbed the “bastard children of punk and Texas blues” by Dallas Observer, Dead Flowers are, according to frontman Corey Howe, “hungry to go about the traditional, organic way” of building their fanbase. Within a year of releasing their first record, For You, Dead Flowers shared the stage with acts such as Delta Spirit, J Roddy Walston and The Business, Murder City Devils, The Reverend Horton Heat, and The Whigs. More information on Dead Flowers and their newest release, His Blues, is available on the band’s official website.

According to an interview with music blog Central Track, Dead Flowers frontman Corey Howe has thought a lot about a very important question: How should a band balance its live act with its recorded material? Howe is quite confident as to how to answer that, responding that “if you don't see an instrument onstage during one of the Dead Flowers' live performances, you're not going to hear it on their record either.”

"I hate going to a show and seeing a band after listening to the record -- or vice versa," Howe adds. "When you see them, they don't sound like the record. What we really wanted to do was capture - as close as we can - a live performance. We're playing all the parts we play live, with nothing extra added."

The band, rounded out by lead guitarist Vince Tuley, bassist Evan Johnson, and drummer Ed Chaney, view their upcoming tour with much anticipation. Being the sociable young men that they are, Dead Flowers view the tour as much an opportunity to make new friends as it is the chance to build their fanbase. Chaney speaks for the entire band when he says "I hope to spread our music to as many new and interesting people as we can."
