After R.E.M. ignited the blogosphere on September 21st with the news that they had decided to "call it a day as a band" via a statement on their website, the beloved band have announced that they will release their final album, R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 - 2011, on Warner Bros. Records on November 15th, 2011. The album is a 40-song career-spanning retrospective that collects, for the first time ever, songs from R.E.M.'s entire back catalog, including the pioneering American band's years on both the IRS label (1982 to 1987) and Warner Bros. Records (1988 to 2011). The album is currently available for pre-order on Amazon here. A brand-new song, "We All Go Back To Where We Belong," goes to radio and will be available for sale on October 18th.

R.E.M. formed in 1980 when singer Michael Stipe met guitarist Peter Buck in an Athens, GA, record store where Buck worked. After recruiting bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry, R.E.M. released its first single, "Radio Free Europe," in 1981, followed by 1982's Chronic Town EP, capturing the imagination of a new generation of music lovers and bringing "guitar pop back into the underground lexicon," as All-Music put it. Widely credited with inventing the college-rock genre, R.E.M. became the most influential American alternative rock band in history -- inspiring such artists as Sonic Youth, Pavement, Nirvana, and Radiohead -- for achieving multi-platinum mainstream success while maintaining their distinct identity.

Over the course of its career, the band has released 15 studio albums: Murmur (1983), Reckoning (1984), Fables of the Reconstruction (1985), Lifes Rich Pageant (1986), Document (1987), Green (1988), Out of Time (1991), Automatic For The People (1992), Monster (1994), New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996), Up (1998), Reveal (2001), Around the Sun (2004), Accelerate (2008), and Collapse Into Now (2011). They have sold more than 85 million albums worldwide.

"Working through our music and memories from over three decades was a hell of a journey," says Mike Mills of choosing the songs that appear on R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 - 2011. "We realized that these songs seemed to draw a natural line under the last 31 years of our working together."

In addition to liner notes written by band members Berry, Buck, Mills, and Stipe, the album also features three new songs that R.E.M. finished after they completed their last album, Collapse Into Now: "A Month of Saturdays," "We All Go Back To Where We Belong," and "Hallelujah," which were recorded over the summer in Athens with Accelerate and Collapse Into Now producer, the estimable Jacknife Lee. The band came roaring back with those two albums in the last two years, achieving some of the best reviews of their career and enabling them to go out at the top of their game.

Today, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. premiere their brand new video for "We Almost Lost Detroit" via a dual premiere with Stereogum and Vimeo, where the video is featured on the homepage. The video for the Gil Scott-Heron cover, which is the new single from their debut full-length It's A Corporate World, was shot earlier this year in their hometown of Detroit and is directed by Andrew Smart.

Today we are debuting a video for a song we did not write. 'We Almost Lost Detroit' began as a homage to one of the great artists of our time, Gil Scott Heron. Ever since we formed as a band roughly two years ago, we've drawn a very high level of inspiration from this song. So much so that we felt compelled to record our own version, and put it on our first ever full-length album last year.

As Detroiters, we are born and bred with a civic pride that we are continually told is somewhat uncommon. We wanted the city, and the people in the city, to be the video for this simple reason. It is an exciting time to be from Detroit--as we believe it's a city that is in the midst of reinventing itself in a huge way.

Read Josh and Daniel's full statement about the video here.

Further representing their hometown, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will release a special Detroit-themed Record Store Day 12". The EP will feature "We Almost Lost Detroit," two covers of songs by other Detroit natives Madonna and Sixto Rodriguez, and three remixes by Detroit-based artists. The 12" is a limited pressing of 2k standard black vinyl units and will be available for $16.98 exclusively on Record Store Day on 4/21. They will also perform a special hometown show at Detroit's Majestic Theater on Record Store Day.

Harakiri, the new studio album from singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and political activist Serj Tankian is set to be released July 10th on Reprise Records/Serjical Strike. Look for a teaser video with a snippet of the first single, "Figure It Out," on Serj's website next week.

Harakiri, a Japanese word meaning ritual suicideis the follow up to 2010's critically acclaimed Imperfect Harmonies and the third solo release from the System Of A Down frontman. As with 2007's Elect the Dead and Imperfect Harmonies, Serj produced Harakiri himself at his home studio in Los Angeles. He tried to approach writing a little differently this time around "I used the Apple iPad as a songwriting instrument to sketch out three of the songs on the record" explains Serj. "We must trick ourselves into writing in different ways to get unexpected results." The album will also feature performances by Serj's touring band, The F.C.C. - Dan Monti on guitar, Mario Pagliarulo on bass, and Troy Zeigler on drums. Dan Monti is also co-mixing and co-engineering the album with Serj.  The album is mastered by Vlado Meller (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West).

Serj reveals each of the song titles in a statement describing Harakiri below. The song names are in order and in bold:

"The Cornucopia of love/hate affairs with Gaia have made us scream "Figure It Out! CEOs are the disease." Where abusive capitalism's only fate is human/environmental devastation. The Ching Chime, diminutive drama of a gangsta Butterfly revealed that humanity's tears actually outweigh yearly rainfall on the planet.

We have witnessed Harakiri on a grand scale tearing out the Occupied Tears of victims preyed on by victims turned aggressors creating a Deafening Silence through which we hear a voice plead, "Forget Me Knot, my child."

Reality TV has become the searing indictment of a society best described as the Uneducated Democracy. The daughters of the evolution Weave On with blood dripping down their guilty hands onto the flag as the word republic is replaced by empire." - Serj Tankian

"The year 2011 started with a fire. Some kids in Piha, NZ were setting off fireworks that landed on my neighbor's property and lit the whole hill on fire.  I knew it was going to be a hell of a year and it certainly was," says Serj.  "Within 5 days of that, reports came out about birds and fish dying in massive numbers globally.  The omen was not lost on me.  Varied creatures on earth were committing massive hara-kiri (the Japanese term signifying ritualistic suicide.)  Do they know something we don't about the coming times or the sustainability of the environment?  That is the day I started writing this record."

The symbolism of entire species eradicating themselves on a large scale struck Serj emotionally, and is an underlying theme on the entire record.  He took that idea and went to work writing, incorporating all of the experiences of his chaotic year to make a different kind of record.  "The record is different than any I've made as a solo artist. It is much more driving and punk oriented with influences ranging from goth to electronic to 80's vibes, dynamically heavy rock to epic melodic songs. Lyrically, it spans the gauntlet of themes from personal, political and philosophical to spiritual, humor and love."

Much of Harakiri was written in 2011, which was an incredibly busy year for the diversely talented musician and what Serj describes as "the busiest, most productive year of my life so far." In February, the rock musical Prometheus Bound, which he composed all of the music for, opened at the Oberon Theater at Harvard in Boston to rave reviews. 2011 also saw Serj release his second poetry book, Glaring Through Oblivion. He toured with System of a Down across three continents, performed with the Opera Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia, where he also had political meetings with heads of state and hosted non-profit events. He then performed his first ever concert in Lebanon, the place of his birth, with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra.  When he returned to the US, he finished writing four records: a jazz record, an electronic record he wrote with his friend Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence, a full classical symphony called Orca, and the new solo rock record, Harakiri, which comes out July 10th

Canadian pop-rock icons Tegan and Sara have announced that they will hit the road with The Black Keys for the extension of their U.S. Tour later this year. Additionally, the girls are confirmed to play Austin City Limits this October. The official ACL lineup was announced today and can be seen in full on the festival's website.

Over the last couple months, Tegan & Sara have been hard at work recording their new album. The Quin sisters have been in the studio with Greg Kurstin (The Shins, Lily Allen, Sia), Mike Elizondo (Regina Spektor, Mastodon, Rilo Kiley), and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Neon Trees, M83, Moving Units). They've offered up fans an inside look at the process of recording too through Tegan and Sara's Carpool Confessional, a weekly video show filmed from the back of their car and featuring a wide variety of special guests and musical collaborators. Additionally, Rolling Stone rolled out weekly behind the scenes photo updates from the studio, all captured by Lindsey Byrnes.

Tegan and Sara lend vocals to two tracks on Grammy-nominated Morgan Page's new album In The Air, including the single, "Body Work," which they also star in the video for. Having remixed numerous cuts for the indie stalwarts, the three wanted to write something together from scratch. "Body Work" is a stellar example of Page's skills as a producer and as an artist: brilliantly balancing kinetic house music with blissful pop.

The Wild Feathers are continuing their touring streak through the summer. Fresh from a tour with Ryan Bingham and stops at the Sasquatch and Hangout Festivals, the Nashville five-piece has confirmed three more festivals: Milwaukee's Summerfest July 3rd, Louisville's Forecastle Festival July14th and Austin City Limits October 6th & 13th. In August they will be joining the legendary Willie Nelson for a string of west coast dates, followed by a nationwide run supporting ZZ Ward. The Wild Feathers have also confirmed a New York show, on July10th at Rockwood Music Hall. Full tour dates are below.

This heavy roadwork is in support of the band's self-titled debut album, out August 6th on Warner Bros Records. First single "The Ceiling" is heading toward the Top 15 at AAA radio, with a strong story building across the country.  Watch the video for the "The Ceiling" here. Their music has been gaining critical attention, as well; Filter described The Wild Feathers as "full of powerful harmonies, country twang, breezy melodies and lots of guitar," and Magnet declared "this group has got the goods." The video for their song "Hard Wind" premiered recently on CMT, watch it here:

The Wild Feathers are a truly American band: their music takes elements of the best of rock, country, folk and blues music and reshapes it in a way that is both unique and modern. Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns, Preston Wimberly and Ben Dumas grew up steeped in music; playing solo gigs, touring with local bands and working at venues. The guys came together in Austin in 2010 through coincidence, mutual friends, and a shared love of the classics: Petty, Dylan, Cash, The Band, Graham Parsons and Neil Young. They spent the next year writing and defining their sound before heading into the studio to record with producer Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris). Look for them in a town near you.

The two-hour show, which was taped at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on February 10th, will air on CBS at 9pm ET/PT on Monday, February 16th.

The show features several of today's top artists covering Wonder's songs. Clark will perform the 1973 classic "Higher Ground" with multi-platinum artist, Beyoncé, and Ed Sheeran. They join performers Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Janelle Monáe, Jennifer Hudson and many others. The night's high water mark performance has already set the media alight with excitement:

"Bey set the bar high by beginning the show with a tremendously energetic medley. Wearing a tight mini-dess and gyrating like Tina Turner, she opened with Wonder's jubilant first hit, 1963's 'Fingertips,' then dismissed her phalanx of male dancers to introduce Ed Sheeran. Sheeran, who would return, accompanied her on Wonder's 1980 ode to Bob Marley before bringing out guitar whiz Gary Clark Jr. to deliver a blistering "Higher Ground." Beyoncé brought the same gospel fierceness to the 1973 hit that she brought to Sunday's Grammy performance of "Take My Hand, Precious Lord."  Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/live-reviews/stevie-wonders-all-star-grammy-tribute-our-5-favorite-performances-20150211#ixzz3RTzKLFYq

Clark is currently recording the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut album Blak And Blu and will hit the road in March on a headlining tour of Australia and New Zealand.  This fall, Clark will set out with Foo Fighters for a U.S. tour. He is also confirmed to play Rock In Rio USA in Las Vegas on May 8th. Please visit http://www.garyclarkjr.com/tour for all upcoming dates.

Clark is also riding high on the warm reception to 2014's live album, Gary Clark Jr. Live - an untouched representation of the force of nature that Clark and his band have become on the global stage. Clark has evolved into a sonic expressionist that must be seen live to fully experience.

Austin City Limits will livestream the highly-anticipated taping with Grammy-winning songwriter, vocalist and virtuoso guitarist Gary Clark Jr. on Monday, August 24, 8pm CT/9pm ET. The taping will webcast in its entirety directly from ACL's stage via the program's YouTube Channel and the broadcast episode will air during ACL's upcoming Season 41, which premieres in October on PBS stations.

Austin's shining star Gary Clark Jr. arrives on ACL's stage for his second headline performance at the top of his game and in advance of his homegrown new record The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, set for release on Sept. 11, on Warner Bros. Records.  Self-produced at Austin's Arlyn Studios, Clark's latest LP reflects his singular visionary landscape as an ever-evolving artist. Relying on the simple tools of his trade - voice, guitar, rhythm and song - Clark firmly establishes himself as a sonic expressionist who has absorbed classic forms of the past while forging his own path.

Clark Jr. has a long history with ACL, going back to his debut in Season 33 as part of the Tribute to Bluesman Jimmy Reed, through his Season 38 solo episode, a 2014 show-stopping appearance as part of ACL's 40th anniversary celebration and a cameo with the Foo Fighters that same year.
