The Northwest's premier acoustic music festival returns for its sixth year to beautiful Horning's Hideout in North Plains, Oregon, on August 24-26.  The event boasts three days of nearly all-acoustic music, culminating each night with main stage performances from musical hosts Yonder Mountain String Band, this year joined by special guest fiddler Darol Anger (David Grisman Quintet, Psychograss).

Also on the bill are New Riders of the Purple Sage with original members David Nelson and Buddy Cage along with Hot Tuna guitarist Michael Falzarano. Banjo legend and teacher of Steve Martin, Tony Trischka, will perform with full band.  Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon will perform with his band and host the acclaimed String Summit superjam.  Past year's Super Jam performers have included Chris Thile, David Grisman, Vasser Clements, Hot Rize, Jerry Douglas and Tim O'Brien

On Friday evening (August 24), String Summit presents the fourth annual Band Contest, where four competition finalists will compete for the opportunity to perform on the main stage the following year.

The tree-lined landscape of Horning's Hideout is the perfect serene setting for an intimate weekend of all acoustic music.  Located just 20 minutes west of Portland and nestled in a hidden canyon of the rolling hills, dense trees and peacocks, Horning's Hideout is truly one of Oregon's best kept secrets. All ages are welcome and children under 10 years old are free with a paying adult.  Three-day festival passes include music, crafts and vending, and plenty of on-site camping and parking.  A family/disabled camping area is available.  Tickets are $135.00 - $150.00 and are on sale now at www.ticketswest.com.  For more information and ticketing links visit the official NWSS website at www.stringsummit.com.

Catch Colorado's Yonder Mountain String Band on the Main Stage (the 'What Stage') this year at Bonnaroo just prior to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss¹s set this Sunday, June 15 at 3:45. Yonder returns to Bonnaroo after a short hiatus having played on the festival in 2003, 2004, and 2005. They return to Bonnaroo with a brand new live record, Mountain Tracks: Volume 5, on their own label.

In addition to their big upcoming performance at Bonnaroo, where they¹ll perform in front of tens of thousands attendees, Yonder is set for a massive summer. The summer tour includes a co-headline tour with longtime collaborator and friend Keller Williams. The tour will make stops along the East Coast in June and pick up again in July on the West Coast (dates below). Following Bonnaroo, Yonder will head back home to Colorado to perform at the 35th annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Their main stage set at the festival is set for Saturday, June 21st at 4:15pm. They will also play two already sold-out 'NightGrass' shows at the festival- Sheridan Opera House and Telluride Conference Center.

Yonder will be making their way to the inaugural Rothbury festival on July 4th out on the Great Lakes of Michigan. Joining Yonder will be Phish's Jon Fishman on drums, who has performed with the band several times including at last year¹s sold-out show at Red Rocks. Yonder's own North West String Summit festival takes place July 18-20 and will feature six full sets by the band at the beautiful Horning's Hideout, just outside of Portland, OR. Darol Anger will join Yonder on fiddle. Other performers include: Keller Williams, Great American Taxi, Drew Emmitt and Billy Nershi, Bill Frisell and more.

Rounding out the summer, Yonder will bring it all back home to Colorado for a big return to Red Rocks on August 2nd, after a sold-out show last Labor Day weekend, their first time headlining the venue. The band can't wait to get back to their hometown crowd at the beautiful, natural outdoor amphitheatre. Keller Williams will kick off the show this year.

Following the summer tour, Yonder plans to head back into the studio with producer Tom Rothrock (Elliot Smith, Beck), who also produced the band¹s last studio album. The continuation of the studio collaboration with Rothrock at the helm promises to be an amazing creative process for the band.

Yonder Mountain String Band, whose “joyful and irreverent” (LA Times) live shows “leave you worn out, danced-out, grinning and begging for more” (Tulsa World), kicked off their nationwide tour this past weekend with three shows in Telluride, CO. They’re on the road through October, and wrapped several dates supporting Dave Matthews Band.

The four-piece band of Adam Aijala (guitar), Jeff Austin (mandolin), Dave Johnston (banjo) and Ben Kaufmann (bass) play marathon 3-hour sets, blending one song into the next and improvising on stage, so that no two shows are alike. Fans this summer can expect Yonder Mountain originals, their take on some classic bluegrass tunes, and a few songs from their 5th studio album ‘The Show,’ out now. Watch the band performing their propulsive single “Complicated” and the album track “Dreams” to over 9000 enthusiastic, dancing fans at Red Rocks on August 28th.

Stay connected with Yonder's tour dates, news, photos and more on the band's brand new iPhone app.  Check out the application through itunes, compatible with your iPhone or iTouch.  The Yonder website is also now mobile-friendly and easily accessible on your phone, blackberry, iphone and more!

“The trophy for best musical set goes to Yonder Mountain String Band who, as the sun began to set, left it all on the stage for an hour and a half. The pickers from Colorado had the audience dancing and shaking, kicking up a joyful storm of dust into the cool summer sky.”- Jarrett Bellini, CNN Showbiz Tonight (All Good Music Festival review)

YMSB is very excited to announce our 2012 Cabin Fever Tour!

By the time that February rolls around we'll have been cooped up too long and in dire need of some southern hospitality. Please come and join us as we party down in the Gulf States with stops in Baton Rouge and Birmingham. We'll then be diving into Florida for our 5 night swoop through the sunshine state. A two-night run in Asheville will send us up through Appalachia and into the upper midwest where we close things out in Madison and Urbana.
