Summer is officially here, and Bill Monroe’s Music Park & Campground is presenting the 2nd annual Hippy Hill Fest happening July 28-30, 2022, in Bean Blossom, Indiana. The music festival features music of the 1960s & 70s, a time where it moved towards an electric, psychedelic version of rock, reflecting the off-beat, psychedelic characteristics of the counterculture itself. Celebrating the music and the 80th birthday of Jerry Garcia, this family-friendly festival is the heart and soul of summer festivals.

27 bands will be performing throughout the course of 3 days, playing nonstop music alternating between 2 stages, beginning at Noon and continuing until 11 pm each day. Then the music moves to the campsites, where musicians and attendees will jam around the campfires and campsites until the wee hours of the morning.

Headlining the festival is a group of bands from Ohio, Indiana and Chicago...

Rumpke Mountain Boys – Thursday, July 28

Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, the Boys are returning for the second year. The band combines signature vocals, a unique command of string instruments (acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass and banjo) and dynamic special effects into a singular musical experience. An emotion filled musical stream of consciousness with no setlist, minimal structure, and intuitive improvisational flow. In this way, they summon the energy of the crowd as their guide in linking just the right music to precise moments in time.

Joe Marcinek Band – Thursday, July 28

Joe Marcinek Band is an experience you will never forget. That is because each show features a different lineup of musicians creating a different set of music every night. The music is equal parts Chicago Blues, New Orleans Funk, Grateful Dead Psychedelia, and Jazz Fusion!

Dustin Smith and the Daydreams – Friday, July 29

This band is from Ohio and has a unique blend of Rock, Funk, Jam, Prog, and Reggae. They deliver a high-energy performance of infectious music that is virtually guaranteed to create a meaningful experience and get people moving. They individually bring together eclectic styles of influences ranging from Pink Floyd, Neil Young, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, CAKE, Ween, Primus, Peter Gabriel, and Frank Zappa to create a new type of sound with distinctiveness, as well as familiarity.

Josh Daniel’s Grateful Band – Friday, July 29

Josh is from Charlotte, NC. When the Covid19 pandemic hit in March of 2020, music venues shut their doors, and his calendar was wiped clean. The singer-songwriter took to his Facebook page and pledged to his fans to play live on Facebook every day until the pandemic ended. Daniel thought life as we knew it would resume in six to eight weeks, but as the shutdown continued, he kept his word and signed on to play every single day. There was no elaborate production team: the show was just Daniel, with an iPhone and his guitar, playing music that can best be described as a soup of roots rock, bluegrass, and soul. Dedicated fans of his Wilco-like sound began to share his live feed, and soon, a Grateful Dead-like community of several thousand followers were born. Josh Daniel fans dubbed themselves, “The Jamily.”

John Welton & The Awakening – Saturday, July 30

John Welton & The Awakening are powerful practitioners of musical medicine, sharing original music that is sure to touch your heart and keep you dancing. Every song speaks directly to all within earshot. Cleverly written lyrics, humor, big harmonies, and a genuine connection to the crowd results in a performance that ALWAYS leaves an impact on any audience! Their  hometown is Cleveland, OH.

Graciously Departed – Saturday, July 30

With over 30,000 followers, this highly-rated band has a host of devoted followers.  They are a Grateful Dead Tribute Band from Indiana that started playing together in 2015 as the Grateful Dead enjoyed their 50th year.
