The Duke Ellington Center for the Arts, in association with the American Tap Dance Foundation, is thrilled to announce a monumental celebration in honor of the 125th birthday of the legendary jazz composer and bandleader, Duke Ellington. This grand event will take place at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 8 pm, co-hosted by Mercedes Ellington and Tony Waag.

The evening promises to be an unforgettable journey through the life and legacy of Duke Ellington, featuring performances by The Duke Ellington Center Big Band, under the virtuosic musical direction of Eli Yamin. Joining them will be the celebrated eight-time Grammy Award winner, Arturo O’Farrill, alongside a lineup of extraordinary dancers, vocalists, and surprise guests. The roster includes the dynamic drummer Bobby Sanabria, Broadway sensation Ty Stephens, the electrifying tapper DeWitt Fleming Jr., and the enchanting jazz vocalists Antoinette Montague and Marion Cowings. Sidney Myer, the multiple award-winning icon of New York City cabaret, will serve as the narrator for this spectacular evening.
