When the world’s greatest timple virtuosos Germán López joins forces with international award-winning jazz singer/songwriter Halie Loren you get a whole new creative sound that will have you singling along or deeply memorized. Together they decided to cover one of the greatest songs of our lifetime, John Lennon’s encouraging and optimistic song, “Imagine."

Both have shared a deep appreciation for the musical legacy of John Lennon, they were inspired to collaborate (distantly!) to create a musical call to action: the global pandemic of COVID-19 as a chance to imagine our world in a fundamentally different way. López resides in the Canary Islands of Spain and Loren in Oregon.

López said that “'Imagine' is a song that has always captivated me. Its musicality, its simplicity and, quite simply, its message, make it an enduring piece.”

Loren explains that, “when I heard Germán Lopéz's take on 'Imagine' — a song I've sung in many contexts over my years of performing — it felt like an entirely new song to me. The beauty of his playing brought such an emotionally resonant quality of tenderness to the piece.”

With just a year away from the 50th anniversary of this influential song, López and Loren are beginning the celebrations early by interpreting the song with multiple layers of Lopez's timple instrument -- a diminutive guitar (not unlike a ukulele) and Halie’s soothing and romantic vocals.

If you are looking for a song that will get give you some peace and encouragement from your quarantine, check out Lopez and Loren’s cover of “Imagine.”
