TAUK Moore Unleash Masterful Debut LP TAUK Moore

TAUK Moore is proud to announce the release of their self-titled debut LP. The intrepid project sees five distinct musicians—Alric Carter (keys), Charlie Dolan (bass), Matt Jalbert (guitar), Kanika Moore (vocals), and Isaac Teel (drums)— fuse an inspired blend of ethereal jazz, scorching funk, gritty rock, and danceable electronica into one immersive sonic landscape.

TAUK Moore formed in 2018 after long standing instrumental quartet TAUK and dynamic Doom Flamingo frontwoman Kanika Moore met while touring the same circuit. An immediate creative synergy was apparent, and together they combined their collective talents to craft a genre-blurring portfolio of music that is truly special, one that grabs listeners’ attention from the first note and never lets go.

This unique collaboration resulted in the nine-track eponymous album, followed by a national 22-show run through major national markets including San Francisco, Austin, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, Brooklyn, Washington DC, and more. In the midst of demanding touring schedules, the laser-focused collective continues to write, suggesting the LP is only a taste of what’s to come.

Matt Jalbert of TAUK explains: “When we first reached out to Kanika about the potential of working together, the idea was to meet up in New York at our studio and work on a song or two. No pressure, just get together and see what happens. What happened was there was an instant spark and we wrote a bunch of songs over the course of a few days. TAUK has been a band for over ten years so it was so exciting to experience how natural it was having Kanika jump into the mix. It really is a collaboration where the band is staying true to itself and Kanika is bringing her own thing but there’s a blend that works."

Kanika Moore adds: “The story behind this album reveals a strong bond between TAUK and myself. There were so many underlining stories happening that molded every song. Life, loss, celebration, frustrations, and redemption. Each story was designed to be interpreted by the listener, we merely guided the song to a vicinity with detail that probably only we really understand."

The band will celebrate the album release at The Blue Note in New York City on Monday, June 19th. The event, a highly anticipated installment in the legendary Blue Note Jazz Festival, will feature two performances alongside the Funky Dawgz horn section.

TAUK Moore was recorded and mixed by Robert Carranza (Marilyn Manson, Jack Johnson, ALO) at HowNow Studios in Oyster Bay, NY.  Heralded by two singles, the chill summer cruiser “Step Back,” and punchy rocker “STFU,” the project also includes additional instrumentation from The Horn Section (Greg Sanderson and Chris Brouwers), percussion from Greg Ellis and Nate Werth, and strings from Kristine Kruta, Erica Swindell, and Tiffany Weiss. The all-star cast of musicians collaborate flawlessly, yielding an environment of improvisation and exploration that wanders through raw emotion and sound.

Announced this week, will traverse the country on the TAUK PRESENTS: THE EQUALIZER TOUR, an extensive run that will feature TAUK Moore on select dates, and will include support from Dogs in a Pile, Sicard Hollow, Electric Kif, and Zach Person. Select shows will also see the act support Umphrey's McGee and Papadosio. Additional dates will be announced soon.
