The Empire State Building will shine its world-famous tower lights in sky blue with a white peace sign rotating in the mast tonight, Thursday, October 8, 2020, in partnership with the John Lennon Estate and Universal Music Group to celebrate John Lennon’s life and legacy ahead of what would have been his 80th birthday, Friday, October 9. The lights will illuminate at sunset (approx. 6:25 pm EDT) and stay on until 2 am EDT.

Born Axel Gerard and crafting his music between England and his native France since 2018, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Orava is a graduate of the Musician Institute of London. Drawing inspiration from French touch, classic electronic, DnB, and traditional rock, as well as artists like Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Depeche Mode, Orava’s compositions tackle the common hopes, doubts and fears of his generation, drawing mostly from his own experiences.

YouTube Music and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) today announce Save Our Stages Festival, #SOSFEST, a three-day virtual music festival featuring all original content on Friday, October 16 through Sunday, October 18. The festival will be hosted by Reggie Watts and feature performances from 35 artists recorded live from more than 25 independent concert venues across the United States.

Due to popular demand, “Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine,” will re-air with additional footage this Saturday, October 10 in celebration of Prine’s 74th birthday. The Bad Plus — the innovative and virtuosic jazz trio comprised of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Orrin Evans, and drummer Dave King — will perform a live concert streamed from the historic Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN, on Friday, October 9 at 8pm eastern. This performance marks their first performance together since the pandemic shut down live events.

400 Bears, the folk, Americana and blues solo project of guitarist and songwriter, Paul Wilkinson (Mason Porter) will release its debut, self-titled LP on October 16, 2020.  Nine of the ten tracks were written by Wilkinson and influenced by the subtlety of Mississippi John Hurt, the charisma of Taj Mahal and the omnipresence of Bob Dylan in the songwriter’s life.
