Acclaimed Brooklyn-based drummer Joe Russo has released a new single entitled "Auld Lang Syne" (listen/share) on New Year's Eve.

The socially-charged track was produced by Sam Cohen at his studio, Jupiter Recording, in Brooklyn. It features Russo on vocals, mellotron, various keys and drums, as well as Arcade Fire reedman, Stuart Bogie on saxophone and clarinet.

This was supposed to be a Seaside Chat, but sometimes the winter weather gets in the way. With the wind, rain, and waves, you might have heard nothing on the video, and this is too important to have drowned out by Mother Nature...

Since their formation, The Green has been a vocal supporter of Hawaiian rights and a model of what it means to be a young, modern Hawaiian. Songs like “Never,” “That’s The Way,” and “Even Before,” among many others, have become rallying cries for Hawaiian youths. Their new single “My Hawai'i,” released December 20 (Easy Star Records), is a new anthem for the Hawaiian nation, featuring guest appearances by fellow multiple-time winners of Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Sean Na'auao, Kaumakaiwa, and Kumu Hina.

Kyle Hollingsworth has released his new single “Tufnel's Retreat,” the first track off the forthcoming EP 2020 due out in February. The song premiered exclusively via Relix earlier this week.

The Coolies, which combined the late Kim Shattuck (frontwoman of The Muffs and longtime bassist of The Pandoras) with Melanie Vammen (also of The Pandoras and formerly of The Muffs) and Palmyra Delran (solo artist and The Friggs guitarist), raised over $15,000 for ALS research, selling out three pressings of their debut EP, Uh Oh! Dimebash – an all-star jam tribute to “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, the late co-founder and guitarist of Pantera and Damageplan – is set for Thursday, January 16 at The Observatory OC in Santa Ana, California.

Rock legend Dave Grohl and many more top rock and metal artists will be on hand to honor the guitar legend 15 years after his untimely passing. The all-star jam will feature Dime’s music and some of his favorite songs, with the Texas homegrown sounds of WhiskeyDick opening the show. The full lineup of musical guests will be announced in January.

Ireland’s hard-working band, The Coronas, who are closing out a series of sold out holiday concerts all over Ireland, are finishing off an action-packed year with the release of an album of stellar live concert performances entitled LIVE AT THE OLYMPIA, available today (27).   A live version of “Heroes or Ghosts,” the title track of the band’s very first album released in 2007, was the first track released from the new collection.

It takes a hell of a lot to get me to brave the absolute sardine-pack that is a sold-out Ogden Theatre in Denver for 3 consecutive nights. There are very few bands that would warrant something like that but Billy Strings is up there at the top of the shortlist.  Over the course of a cold weekend in December, the city of Denver was lucky enough to get to take part in the only three-night run of Billy Strings’ fall tour.

After years of Wrecking Crew-grade session musicianship around Los Angeles, Malcolm John Rebbenack carved his own niche by the late 1960s with a distinct blend of psychedelic rock, boogie-woogie, and rhythm & blues. Taking the stage name Dr. John, the Night Tripper (later shortened to Dr. John), he developed a cult following with his music, heavily influenced by his home of New Orleans, and fascination with the voodoo religion which was reflected in his elaborate stage shows.
