THE DELERIUM D-TOUR 2008 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

DELERIUM- for the Grateful Web

Electronic music pioneers DELERIUM have announced the D-Tour 2008 North American Tour, which kicks off in Vancouver September 11 and ends in Atlanta October 4.  This marks the first major tour for front man Bill Leeb and Delerium in five years. Fans can expect guest vocalists from past Delerium albums to make special appearances, including Sixpence None The Richer's Leigh Nash and chanteuse Kristy Thirsk. Up and coming fellow Nettwerk artists Elsiane and Morgan Page will support the entire 16-date run.

Delerium has also been spending time in the studio working on their next project, an acoustic session that will be comprised of past hit singles as well as two new tracks. Since the release of their Nettwerk debut album Semantic Spaces in 1995, Delerium have gone on to sell over a million albums in North America alone, and are also known for a string of successful singles, including the worldwide dance smash "Silence" (featuring the talents of superstar Sarah McLachlan), which sold over 300,000 copies in the UK. Other hits have included "After All," "Innocente (Falling In Love)," "Underwater" and "Heaven's Earth."

Montreal's Elsiane - Elsieanne Caplette and Stephane Sotto - joins the bill in support of their debut album Hybrid (August 5), which CBC Radio 3 called "mind blowing."  Los Angeles-based electro house producer Morgan Page rounds out the bill with his up-tempo grooves that continue to top the Billboard Club play charts. The track "Longest Road" from his album Elevate (March 2008) was his first original chart-topper, making it all the way to #2 on the Billboard Hot Club Play Chart, sandwiched between megawatts Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Umphrey's McGee Coming to Colorado

photos by Phil Emma- for the Grateful Web

Umphrey's McGee released Jimmy Stewart 2007 this past June.  This digital-only release features the band's best improvisations of the past year.  Jimmy Stewart 2007 is a limited edition release, first available at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and thereafter available digitally through UMLive.net and itunes.  Plus the UM download will offer up a companion piece podcast offering an additional 70 minutes of material that did not make the Jimmy Stewart 2007 album.

Jimmy Stewart 2007 is an ambitious effort to compile a year's worth of the band's inspired improvisations into two seamless 70-minute "mixtapes."  At over 100 shows a year, Umphrey's McGee delves into these spontaneous compositions, engaging their fans as they feed off each other's energy.  A Zappa-inspired language of body gestures and hand-signals allow the band to break structure while creating an entirely new arrangement.  As Umphrey's McGee's continues to evolve, each live performance showcases the band's "Jimmy Stewart" approach to structured improvisation.

Also, Umphrey's McGee released a digital-only live series titled CompendiUM.  Available through itunes and UMLive.net, CompendiUM offers live recordings of the band's favorite ten shows of 2007.  Included in the series are the band's Boulder, Colorado show from March 6th, their Portland, Oregon show on June 7th, and the Chicago Show from December 30th, among others.

In the ever-changing music industry, Umphrey's McGee has proven adaptive and inventive both in music and in business.  Through grassroots promotions, an intensive touring schedule, open taping policies and music sharing among fans, Umphrey's McGee provides a new approach to media, entertainment, and music distribution.  Tape trading in the jam-band scene was one of the earliest examples of free music distribution and Umphrey's has harnessed the internet's momentum to spread their music far and wide.  With an extensive variety of downloadable formats, UMlive.net offers more music than any other indie label with download stores, and Umphrey's McGee basically gives away the equivalent to 40,000 CDs each month through their podcast program.  The band has also been releasing soundboard recordings at the end of each night's concert for immediate sale since 2001 and typically sells anywhere from 120 to 180 CD-Rs per night.  Their unique approach to online and digital distribution, paired with word of mouth buzz, has helped Umphrey's McGee sell out shows nationwide while keeping their fans their top priority.

Ani DiFranco's feeling good, and she's in a giving mood - Red Letter Year isn't just a party, it's a music lover's gift.

THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS TO PLAY DENVER ON AUGUST 31

- for the Grateful Web

The Fabulous Thunderbirds will be playing Taste of Colorado at the Qwest Main Stage, in Civic Center Park, in downtown Denver on August 31 at 7:30 PM.  Admission is free for the entire Taste of Colorado event, which runs from August 29 through September 1.  For more information, please call 303-295-6330.

For over thirty years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band. The group's distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical styles, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid via such barnburners as "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up."

Founding member Kim Wilson spearheads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. "We started as a straight blues band." vocalist and harmonica player Wilson says. "We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We're an American music band and we're higher energy than ever before." The Fabulous Thunderbirds features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass.

Wilson's musical talents have garnered him multiple Blues Awards and Grammy Nominations. The Blues Foundation 2008 blues Music Awards named Wilson   "Instrumentalist - Harmonica" category.  In 2006, he was named "Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year" in 2006, and "Lookin' for Trouble!" was named Blues Song of the Year in 2004. Wilson has contributed to the work of many other great artists such as the legendary Muddy Waters (who called him his "son"), contemporary artist Bonnie Raitt, guitar legends Stevie Ray Vaughn and brother Jimmy Vaughn, and Martin Scorsese's movie "The Blues". With his current movie project "Cadillac Records," Wilson continues to focus on the music he loves.

With over 20 albums recorded and millions sold, Kim Wilson and The Fabulous Thunderbirds tour the world performing their own unique style of music. Ranging from pop anthems like "Powerful Stuff" which was featured in the Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail," to the low down blues of "Chicago," this brand of honest music brings fans back time and again.

Having shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana and blues legends BB King and Buddy Guy and countless others, The Fabulous Thunderbirds continue to tour Europe and the North America, bringing more great music to their fans worldwide.

Their new CD (tentative title "Pay Back Time") is to be released in mid-2008.

"Co-ops Rock! brings all these elements together with great music for the sake of co-op suppliers farmers hit hard by recent flooding," Shrader added. "We hope this event raises a lot of money for the farmers, provides a great evening for attendees and sets the tone for future Co-ops Rock! events."
