The Big Up Music & Arts Festival has added dynamic genre-bending rock band The Heavy Pets and seeker of unearthed sound Thriftworks to the 2013 lineup. In addition to performing his solo set, Allen Aucion (aka DrFameus) will join Space Jesus Live on drums where he’ll provide the driving beat that propels the psychedelic, bass-fueled, hip hop-laced set. Consider the Source will also be performing a second set and showcasing an acoustic take of their Sci-fi Middle Eastern Fusion that’s prefaced by an interactive discussion on the eclectic instruments used by the innovative trio. Rounding out The Big Up’s 8-hours-per-day of inspiring workshops and activities, Jojo Mayer and John Davis of NERVE, who are credited as founding members of the "live-tronic" movement, will host a discussion on the process of recreating programmed, computerized beats in real time including bass effects and sound design.
