Not a day sooner could Piers Faccini have penned the 10 songs featured on his latest full-length studio recording, I Dreamed An Island (Six Degrees Records; October 21, 2016). Writing in real time as history unfolds and observing the troubled world in which we live, the British songwriter living in southern France responds with a heartfelt conviction.

This past Monday, Brooklyn’s Lucius captured the hearts and minds of their audience at Boulder’s Fox Theater with their powerfully emotive set showcasing their sophomore album, Good Grief. I was able to chat with half of the band’s frontwomen duo, Holly Laessig, before their performance to learn more about the new album and tour, and the band’s unique musical (and nonmusical) inspirations.

Personally speaking, this new album of Canadian banjo roots has been helping us feel better. The full-band arrangements of banjo-rooted music are just joyful in nature and even somewhat innocent. It's hard not to get swept up in the spirit of this album, and we think it'll lift your spirits too!

Presented by WBEZ, LIVE WIRE RADIO, the independent public radio variety show hosted by LUKE BURBANK is making its way from Portland, Oregon eastward for its first-ever Chicago taping on December 2nd at Lincoln Hall.

Tickets are now on sale at Clubtix.com.
