Of Vogelzang, Blackbook raves, “every now and again, a folk-pop artist emerges with a universally warming sound that takes over the airwaves and attracts everyone from tweens to full blown adults, using smart and often G-rated lyrics over heartening melodies.”

After a strong debut album in 2014, showcasing the five-piece progressive rock band’s diversity of influence, Agori Tribe starts 2015 off strong with “Tiny Tyrant Biggins & The Avant Groove,” also known as simply “Biggins.” The first single from an upcoming full length album of original material, “Biggins” further demonstrates the Memphis-based band’s need to stretch the boundaries of genre and fittingly incorporate a wide range of styles into a single track.

Alternative Country duo Crimson Calamity debut a high-spirited, attitude fueled sound on their debut EP “All In The Cards” due out on March 31st, 2015. Lauren Harding and Mallory Trunnell were no strangers to intricate songwriting and the bright lights of the stage on their own, but together, they discovered a talent for firecracker lyrics and glistening harmonies that became entirely irresistible. And so, Crimson Calamity was born.

Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit will return to rattle the landscape this summer with a series of live performances – than band’s first since a much-talked-about 2011 reunion at the Georgia Theatre in Athens.
Bass player Reggie Scanlan built an extensive resume throughout The Radiators’ three decade-plus run. Not everybody can say they played with Professor Longhair or James Booker, but Reggie can. When The Rads hung it up in 2011, Reggie was already on to the next one and saying so long to a bout with cancer. A road warrior with an appreciation for the arts and photography, Reggie has soaked up the substance that came before him and carefully selected the mold he performs within to this day.

Providing us with the lowdown on the event that’s in honor of the 50th anniversary of Grateful Dead.
The Infamous Stringdusters put the spurs to their spring tour with a fret-blazing, shape-shifting show featuring special guest Keller Williams at Eugene’s McDonald Theatre (March 5th). The ‘Dusters delivered a convincing account of their distinctive “high country” sound while Williams complimented nicely, both with an impressive opening set and later, playing alongside the headliners. The pairing made for an entertaining combination of Nashville polish and free-spirited, festival charm.
Onetime Colorado resident CR Gruver has been on a roll recently. The New Orleans-adopted pianist is right at home holding down the keys in the New Orleans Suspects, wearing the moniker without hesitation; more a sense of pride.
