The South just got a little funkier this fall with the announcement of the May The Phunk Be With You September tour featuring Earphunk and friends. Bookended by festivals in Oklahoma, the tour weaves Earphunk throughout the Southeast for select dates with The Main Squeeze, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Modern Measure.

First of all, if you are into funk at all, download Sweet Nasty. Period.

The New Mastersounds are a four-piece band based in Leeds, England, whose modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock draws influences from Jimmies McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well as their most closely-associated mentors, The Meters. Try to imagine Grant Green and Lou Donaldson having a fight in a Hammond Organ shop while James Brown holds the coats, and you have some idea of what to expect from this band.

Fresh off of recent sold-out performances with 311 and an appearance at the Electric Forest Festival, New Orleans prog-funk quintet Earphunk are proud to announce details for the release of their new studio album, Sweet Nasty. The band will hit the road to support the release of their third LP with two-months of dates including shows with Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk and the Kyle Hollingsworth Band.
