Emancipator

Come jam with us for the inauguration of Cascade Equinox, a brand-new three-day event coming to Central Oregon on September 22 - 24, 2023, held at Deschutes County Fairgrounds.

This enticing first-time festival announcement brings a unique opportunity for the music festival subculture to converge at the nexus of diverse genres, fostering a vibrant celebration within our tight-knit community amidst the beauty of nature.

The architecturally iconic Kings Theatre hosted the genre defying EDM artists Thievery Corporation on December 8, 2022 in Brooklyn, NY. They are currently smack in the middle of their Winter 2022 tour, and were firing on all cylinders this evening. The show also included a notable appearance by founder Eric Hilton. Emancipator was on hand to provide support.

Classically trained DJ and Producer Douglas Appling, better known as Emancipator played a cleansing set to a sold-out house at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall that was nothing short of hypnotizing. His music, if not genuinely describable as trance, was certainly trance-esque, and highlighted electronic music’s evolution and maturity in recent years.

Emancipator (Doug Appling) releases 'Baralku,' the third single and title track from his 14 track LP out on his Loci Records imprint  November 17. The string-heavy, softly layered stunner "Baralku" premiering on This Song Is Sick, follows the moody 'Ghost Pong' and jazzy 'Goodness' lead singles. The classically trained electronic artist and producer also announces a 25-date 'Baralku Tour,' featuring his five-piece Emancipator Ensemble, kicking off on January 30, 2018.

Behind every great album lies an unheard story. Now, as the sun sets on 2016, Portland's very own Emancipator shares the story of his debut album, "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" through his latest release: a double-sided EP titled "Maps & Father King."
