Today, Aqueous announce the release of a new live album, Element Pt. I, out now. Featuring highlights from the band’s Spring 2017 tour, the collection is the first installment of an ongoing live series. For this release, the band went directly to their fans and cataloged personal highlights to figure out which jams and song versions were worthy of inclusion. According to Aqueous guitarist, Mike Gantzer, “When we're in the studio we tend to focus deeply on song structure, composition, lyrical content/depth etc, but for the live release, we wanted to put a spotlight on some of the longer and more exploratory improvisations that we'll do within songs when we perform them live.”

The track listing of Element Pt. I spans across the diverse and ever-growing catalog of Aqueous, including a version of previously unreleased track, “Second Sight,” a song only recently added into live rotation. The version of “Aldehyde” chosen for the new live release features saxophonist Nick Gerlach, a special treat for a band who rarely performs onstage with a horn section. The compilation concludes with fan-favorite, “Kitty Chaser (Explosions),” from 2014’s Cycles, chosen for it’s deep explorative improv section. Each track featured on the record was recorded at a different stop along the tour: “The Median” (Lawrence, KS), “Second Sight” (Portland, ME), “Aldehyde” (Denver, CO), “Warren In The Window” (Omaha, NE), “Staring Into The Sun” (Columbus, OH) and “Kitty Chaser” (Morgantown, WV).

Hailing from Buffalo, NY, Aqueous continues to expand their national touring schedule alongside some of the top acts in live music. The band was formed in 2007 by members Mike Gantzer (Guitar/Vocals), David Loss (Guitar/Keys/Vocals) and Evan McPhaden (Bass) bringing the last piece of their puzzle, Rob Houk (Drums/Vocals), on during later years. This summer, Aqueous will accompany Umphrey’s McGee on the road for a few dates, as well as make appearances at Summer Camp Music Festival, Peach Music Festival and the inaugural Canyon Jam.

The upcoming Phish Baker’s Dozen run at Madison Square Garden is destined to go down as a truly monumental run, making New York City the place to be mid-summer. As the inevitable late-night show announcements pour in, you can add this one to your must-attend list. Chris Robinson Brotherhood guitarist Neal Casal is bringing his marveled Circles Around The Sun project to the Gramercy Theater on Saturday, July 22nd.

The history of the group is beyond fitting, as the band’s first introduction was at the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary Fare Thee Well shows. Casal, the frequent Phil Lesh & Friends collaborator, was tapped to create the setbreak music, eventually giving birth to a band that would fittingly be called Circles Around The Sun. The psychedelic rock grooves that Casal, along with the help of keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Dan Horne, and drummer Mark Levy create will be the perfect concoction to help fans “Hallucinate a Solution” late into the night.

Tickets are now on sale here.

Last week, Brooklyn Comes Alive announced a massive artist lineup, with over 100 artists slated to perform 35+ sets of music over two days in the heart of Williamsburg. Today, the festival is proud to announce the first of many unique collaborative set—"The Road Goes On Forever: Celebrating The Music Of The Allman Brothers Band," a star-studded tribute bringing together members of some of the biggest bands in improvisational music to pay homage to the earth-shattering impact of the music of the Allman Brothers Band.

This all-star collaboration will feature Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico of moe.; Joel Cummins and Kris Meyers of Umphrey's McGee; Scott Sharrard and Brett Bass of Gregg Allman Band; and Nate Werth of Snarky Puppy. Special guests will also appear throughout the set, including New York guitar prodigy and Broadway star, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, who was mentored by both late greats Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks.

When asked what the Allman Brothers mean to him, moe.’s Al Schnier stated:

"The Allman Brothers “At Fillmore East” changed the landscape of live rock music, & particularly the place of the guitar in an improvisational ensemble forever more.  They somehow blended these very American elements of Jazz, Blues, & Soul into something uniquely theirs, yet timeless all the same. And that album, their sound became part of my DNA at an early age. To this day, the twin guitar combo in moe. would not be what it is if not for the path forged by Duane Allman & Dickey Betts."

Joel Cummins, keyboardist extraordinaire for Umphrey’s McGee, was equally effusive about the Allman Brothers, explaining:

"The Allman Brothers are one of rock n roll’s most seminal bands in history, forging a path for many musicians today that have followed in their footsteps. As a keyboardist myself, Gregg Allman & Chuck Leavell‘s masterful work on organ & piano influenced the way I approach music. It will be an honor to pay tribute to a group of musicians Umphrey’s McGee loves and respects so much."

Finally, Scott Sharrard had some touching words to share about his mentor and former bandmate, Gregg Allman. Sharrard was the musical director for the final eight years of the Gregg Allman Band, and also was a frequent collaborator of Allman’s in his later years, helping him to write new music and to shape his live show. Scott will serve as musical director for The Road Goes On Forever, and he had this to say about this set at Brooklyn Comes Alive:

"What Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks did was rain truth daggers of love and unity in every salvo of sound from the stage. One true note can slice into every heart. I believe this was their goal every time that they took the stage, I never saw them miss. It will be a pleasure to honor these founding members of one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Alongside some friends, both old and new, we will do our best to “hit the note” at Brooklyn Comes Alive."

The latest collaboration for the coming Brooklyn Comes Alive features members from two prominent bands out of Buffalo, NY. At this year's festival, members from moe. — one of the scene's most well known and respected acts — will join members of one the hottest up-and-coming bands on the scene today, Aqueous. This collaboration, known as moe.queous, will include a set of moe. songs, Aqueous songs, and choice covers, which can only be experienced at Brooklyn Comes Alive.

In the early 90's, moe. rose from a local Buffalo-based band to a nationally touring powerhouse. Their influence on the music scene of Buffalo, NY continues to this day, inspiring the next generation of jam bands growing out of New York state.

Having grown up in and around Buffalo in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, upstart jam band Aqueous have clearly been influenced by moe., and the city’s vibrant music scene. The young band has crafted a unique, groove-oriented progressive rock sound, with their dual-guitar attack, ambitious songwriting, and playful lyrics. Now, Mike Gantzer, Dave Loss, Evan McPhaden, and Rob Houk of Aqueous will join forces with moe.’s Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico for a single set, taking place only at Brooklyn Comes Alive.

Mike Gantzer had this to say about playing with Al and Vinnie from moe.:

“It’s an absolute honor to get the opportunity to share the stage with some of the moe. guys! Some of Aqueous’ most formative moments when we were young and aspiring/impressionable musicians were seeing moe. shows, and moe.down was actually our first ever festival that we attended growing up. We’ve always looked up to those guys, and the Buffalo connection we share makes it that much more special, so in summation, we’re incredibly psyched!”

Today's announcement marks the festival's fourth collaborative unveiling. Previously, Brooklyn Comes Alive has shared lineups for their sets: “The Road Goes On Forever: Celebrating The Music Of The Allman Brothers Band”, A Tribute To Jamiroquai and Eric Krasno & Friends, with more to come. Tickets and additional information are now available via the festival's website.

Today, Spafford announce the release of a new record, Abaculus: An Improvisational Experience, out now. Recorded in a single take at The Pound in Phoenix, AZ, this hour-long cut was entirely improvised, putting on wax what it means to be completely immersed in the moment, without expectation of what will come next. In the words of the band, "As a singular musician, one can only do so much. When we all come together, remove the ego, listen to each other, relax, and have fun, the end result knows no bounds."

Abaculus started on the hottest day of the summer in Phoenix, AZ. For Spafford, this summer has been a tireless grind, and after several uninspired rehearsals, the band took a day to themselves. What did they do on that day? As bassist Jordan Fairless shares, "We loaded up, went to the waterpark, and spent the day riding every possible ride in the park. It was a day of chili cheese dogs, lazy rivers, and a whole lot of laughter. It was the most fun we had been allowed all summer."

At a loss for the direction to head in at the following rehearsal, Spafford took a step back to return to their roots. They held this particular rehearsal as a jam session, which is something they've done before; one person starts with a simple phrase or melody and everyone else is required to listen and find their part. No verbal or visual communication is allowed. After a game of "Nose Goes" it was decided that guitarist Brian Moss would begin, and what came out of that day is now known as Abaculus.

After an hour of improvisation among band members — with alternating leads, melodies, and movements — the music came to a natural end. They all knew something special had just transpired, and Fairless felt compelled to mix and master the recording.

"Abaculus" is defined as, “a small tile of glass, marble, or other substance, of various colors, used in making ornamental patterns in mosaic pavements,” or in other words, small pieces part of a much larger work of art. The session resulting in Abaculus is an example of four musicians — namely Fairless, Moss, Red Johnson and Cameron Laforest — coming together and contributing their individual pieces to a much larger work of art.

Beginning today, Abaculus is available digitally via SpotifyiTunes and AppleMusic.

Brooklyn Comes Alive 2017 is already stacking up to be quite the 2-day music festival, and today, the lineup for a special funky tribute set to the Grateful Dead is revealed. Reed Mathis, Todd Stoops, and Jay Lane of Electric Beethoven will team up with guitarist Eric Krasno to form Rooster Conspiracy.

The project of Rooster Conspiracy was born from Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann‘s good intentions and celebratory spirit during the first few days of 2017.

The notorious drummer had just celebrated the new year in a friend’s backyard in Hawaii, alongside a band that included his Billy & the Kids bandmate Reed Mathis, and Mathis’ Electric Beethoven bandmate Todd Stoops, and Kreutzmann was in the mood to keep the party going. When he heard that guitarist Eric Krasno just arrived on the little island of Kauai, he invited the guitarist to join in on the fun. They spent the better part of New Year’s Day casually jamming just for the fun of it. The following evening, Kreutzmann arranged for a little surprise luau at his house and the four once again collaborated, this time going into unrehearsed songs plucked mostly from the Grateful Dead catalog. They performed the music in a funky style that showcased Kreutzmann’s signature shuffle, Krasno’s jazz-club funk, Mathis’ constant drive for creation and Stoops’ kinetic approach to the keyboards. In a nod to both the time (the Chinese “Year of the Rooster” was just about to begin), and the place (Kauai, an island with wild roosters everywhere), the four musicians decided on the name the project “Rooster Conspiracy.”

While Kreutzmann is unable to make it to New York for Brooklyn Comes Alive, the rest of the guys wanted to bring this special set to Williamsburg, so they enlisted Jay Lane (Ratdog, Primus) for the highly anticipated first-ever East Coast performance of the Rooster Conspiracy. It’s one-quarter Soulive, half Golden Gate Wingmen, three-quarters Electric Beethoven, and 100% funk-driven Grateful Dead-inspired meditations and dance therapies.

As of today, supergroup formations and the daily lineups for Brooklyn Comes Alive 2017 are officially here! Additionally, the festival is now offering single day tickets, as well as a ticket payment plan. More information is available here.

After two successfully sold out years, the annual Brooklyn Comes Alive festival will return to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for two full days of unique supergroups, special tribute sets and once in a lifetime collaborations. This year, the event expands to two days, taking place September 23 - 24 at three of Brooklyn’s premier venues, Brooklyn Bowl, Schimanski and Music Hall of Williamsburg. Ticket purchases include access to all three venues and attendees are free to come and go as they please.

Brooklyn Comes Alive is also excited to welcome legendary drummer, Bernard Purdie, and keyboardist of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Kofi Burbridge, to join the Allman Brothers tribute. Additionally, the newly announced return to the festival’s original home of Schimanski (formerly Verboten) is welcome news, as it allows for a closer venue proximity — now 5 minutes walking distance — better sound quality and more room to dance!

Inspired by the vibrant musical communities of Brooklyn and New Orleans, this unique event puts the focus on the artists, bringing over 100 musicians together to see their passion projects come to life, honor their musical heroes, and improvise with their friends and peers. The event pushes the boundaries of a traditional music festival model and creates an unprecedented experience for fans.

Without further ado, Brooklyn Comes Alive is pleased to present the daily lineups for 2017.

Late last week while on the road for their first headlining tour, Chicago band Mungion faced quite the unfortunate circumstance; their van, trailer and subsequently, all of their gear, were stolen from the West Village neighborhood in Detroit, MI. The theft took place at 11 am CST on Friday, August 25th.

In an effort to recover the missing gear—including their instruments, light rig, monitors, amps and more—the band has launched a GoFundMe campaign earlier today, hoping to make a dent in the estimated $41,500 worth of loss.

Mungion has issued the following statement via Facebook:

Last weekend, while on the road, we were staying out in Detroit and woke up to find our van and trailer stolen with all of our gear, merchandise, lights, and other valuable belongings in them. Although we are grateful that everyone is safe, our livelihood was taken from us in the blink of an eye. After going from door to door in the neighborhood we were able to track down some surveillance video that showed two men breaking in and stealing our van and trailer. Unfortunately, there was not much the authorities or anyone could do. After filing the police report and talking to neighbors we piled up in a hatchback and drove 6 hours to New York to play because the show must always go on!

Our very first tour as a headlining band is coming up in the next week and we need your help to get us back on our feet. Everything that was taken from us is estimated at around $41,500 total. Now more than ever, we need the help from our Mung Family to pick us back up and make the force even stronger! Any donations will help, big or small. We promise to reciprocate all of the positive energy and love through each and every show we play. We are able to do what we love because of ALL of you and could not imagine going through this journey alone. WE thank you in advance for all of your help, love, and support. We know that something like this will only make us stronger.

The band is hoping friends and fans alike will help spread the word via social media. If you have any more information on the whereabouts of the band's belongings, please contact them via their GoFundMe campaign or reach out to Juliana@plexusentertainmentgroup.com.

As of now, all scheduled dates will go on as planned; please find a full list below. For those unfamiliar with Mungion and their music, please find a video of "Sloob Syndrome" shot live at Chrysler Studios last October, here.

For the better part of 2017, Aqueous have been touring coast-to-coast, both in support of Umphrey's McGee, and headlining their own dates. The group has even made their way around this year's festival circuit, playing to packed stages at national festivals like Peach Music Festival and Summer Camp Music Festival, with their debut performance at Suwanee Hulaween scheduled for this October. After a relentless year on the road, it comes as welcome news that the band, originally formed in 2007 in Buffalo, NY, will return to their hometown for a special performance on New Year's Eve. On Sunday, December 31, Aqueous will ring in the new year at Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY and tickets are now on sale via Ticketfly.

Last month, the band released a brand new studio single, "Weight of the Word," which is Aqueous' first studio cut since their 2014 album Cycles. The Aqueous-produced song was engineered and mixed by Justin Rose at Buffalo's GCR Audio and was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer, Scott Hull (Steely Dan, Smashing Pumpkins, Snarky Puppy, Talking Heads, John Mayer, Beastie Boys). Earlier this year, Aqueous released their live record, Element Pt. I, which complies fan-selected cuts from their 2017 Spring tour. The second installment, containing selections from their Spring 2017 run, as well as those from this Summer, is expected in the coming months.

MLIMA announces the release of their self-titled EP by dropping a new track, “Sunshine.” Please take a listen here. The upcoming 7-track EP—which was written, recorded, and produced solely by the band—is slated for release on September 29th, 2017.

The group is comprised of vocalist Jessica Jones, saxophonist and vocalist Zach Simms, guitarist Jeph Kennedy, bassist Ryan Thrush, percussionist Jack Breitenbach, and drummer Lance Croucher, with Ben Rafferty lending occasional notes on keys. Hailing from Denver, CO, MLIMA’s blend of “Mountain Groove” has taken the local music scene by storm, headlining venues like Denver’s Bluebird Theatre and Boulder’s Fiske Planetarium, even taking the mainstage at last year’s Arise Music Festival. The group has had the pleasure of opening for renowned acts such as Shpongle and The Disco Biscuits at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater, as well as Praang (feat. members of String Cheese Incident), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), and more.

Quite literally, “MLIMA” means “mountain” in Swahili, and their inspiration in the world around them is as tall as the Rocky Mountains.

“Think Medeski Martin and Wood but about 20 years younger,” writes ShowTheShow in regards to Organ Freeman, an organ trio hailing from Los Angeles, CA. Made up of Rob Humphreys (drums), Erik Carlson (guitar) and Trevor Steer (organ/keys), the group is excited to announce their second studio effort, Respect My Art, due out September 12th. Lead single "Don't Eat Your Fingers" can be streamed here.

This record leads the band in a new direction, as they meld EDM electronics with traditional organ trio instrumentation, to create something new and unique. “Our goal for this album was to try to create the biggest, most expansive sound we could as a three piece, so instead of writing and arranging with the instrumentation in mind, we decided not to shy away from layering or sounds that wouldn’t normally be considered in an organ trio setting,” remarks Steer of the new release.

For Respect My Art, Organ Freeman ventured outside of the standard drums-keys-guitar lineup of an organ trio and enlisted some heavy hitters to join in on the magic. They invited Theo Katzman, guitarist of Vulfpeck, as well as Dave Brandwein, guitarist of Turkuaz, alongside bassist Sean Hurley (Vertical Horizon), trumpet player Sean Billings (Jungle Fire), alto saxophonist Woody Mankowski (The Muller’s Wheel) and tenor saxophonist Jesse McGinty to fill out some of the tracks, delving deeper into previously uncharted territory for the band.

All songs were written, arranged and produced by Organ Freeman, which was recorded by Chris Sorem at The Nest in Los Angeles, CA. Mixing for Respect My Art is courtesy of Wesley Cole Switzer—who is responsible for mixing the band's debut self-titled effort—at LA's Milestone Studios, while Nathan James mastered the record at Vault Mastering in Phoenix, AZ. The band once again enlisted Ryan Dilmore to create the album artwork.

In celebration of the coming release, Organ Freeman has planned two release shows. The first takes place at The Mint in the band's hometown of Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, September 16th. The second will be held at The Independent in San Francisco, CA on Saturday, September 23rd. Tickets and more info is available via the band's website.
