As droves of fans prepare to travel to Camden's waterfront this summer at the newly christened Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, downtown Camden is also relaunching a more intimate free summer “Lunchtime Concert” series for local residents and office workers at the scenic Roosevelt Plaza Park. These intimate Tuesday afternoon concerts, enabled through a partnership between Connect the Lots and the Camden Special Services District (CSSD), are designed to activate downtown green spaces with vibrant live music, a nice complement to the big-time acts that frequent the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. These concerts provide a more local vibe that pairs nicely with beloved groups and longtime summer staples such as the Wu-Tang Clan and Dave Matthews Band, as well as the Monday night Summer Jazz Series at Wiggins Waterfront Park put on by Camden County.

“Everyone in the region knows Camden is a great place to see live music. This lunchtime concert series provides yet another venue to do just that, this time in a more intimate setting and as a way to get outside for a little fresh air during the workday,” said Nathaniel Echeverria, Executive Director of CSSD. “As Camden, and the rest of the world, start coming back to work and back to downtown offices again, events like this will be key to help our small businesses rebound and prosper. Our hope is that people grab lunch at one of our many amazing local restaurants, then stick around to eat and enjoy the show. Whether that’s Nuanced Café, Latin American Restaurant, The Lunchbox, Slice of New York, or one of our many other great places to eat mid-day, we’ve got options here we hope folks explore.”

Downtown Camden’s free Lunchtime Concerts kicked off on Tuesday, May 31, and will run every Tuesday through August from 12:00-2:00 P.M. in front of Camden City Hall at Roosevelt Plaza Park. The concerts will feature a number of talented local performers in the Camden area, beginning with Craig Storrod, the lead singer from CPR Music Invincible, and Valerie McNear. Locals and professionals gathered to listen to sets this Tuesday while enjoying their lunch al fresco. Photos forthcoming and available on CSSD’s Instagram.

Additional performers for future Lunchtime Concert series events include Frantastic Noise, a soulful singer/songwriter born and raised in West Philly whose debut single “Found A Love” dropped on all major music platforms on May 14th.

Freedom Mortgage Pavilion has a jampacked schedule set for 2022, with shows scheduled for nearly every weekend this summer and plenty in between. Performers include Pearl Jam, Wiz Khalifa, The Chicks, and Arcade Fire, to name a few, with thousands of tickets already sold for shows in August and September.
