Charleston, South Carolina, Synth-Rock band Doom Flamingo is back with an exhilarating new single, "Long Way Home," this marks the first release written and performed by the collective brilliance of Kanika Moore, Ross Bogan, Ryan Stasik, Thomas Kenney, Mike Quinn, and Sean Bing. Also a first, the band tapped the expertise of Danny Kalb (Ben Harper, Beck, Wilco, Jack Johnson) for mixing and mastering duties. This captivating track is a great example of a tight banger combining elements of rock, synth wave, and powerful vocals that epitomize the band's unique style.
"Long Way Home" is an anthem for those who refuse to give up on love and strength, even in the face of heartbreak and adversity. Kanika Moore reflects on the song's meaning, stating, "Sometimes the pain of heartbreak reminds you of the good feelings you're letting go in a relationship. This song is about not wanting to let go."
Guitarist, Thomas Kenney, describes the emotional depth of the track, "This song really carries me through when the going gets rough. I’ve found. It drives like Benatar’s ‘Love is a Battlefield’ but not just in the way the beat pulses… there’s an emotive force in the chordal harmony and Kanika’s lyricism and delivery that just makes me feel like something is supporting me, something or someone is there for me. I get a feeling in my chest every time we play it, like, things are heavy right now, but we’re gonna make it.
With the production prowess of Matt Zutell at Coast Records and mixing and mastering by Danny Kalb, "Long Way Home" is a testament to Doom Flamingo's commitment to delivering innovative and exhilarating music. The single is released under the band’s label "Records are Doomed."
The band will celebrate their release with a hometown play on 10.21.23 at The Refinery in Charleston, SC. Maggie Rose will open the show. Get your tickets HERE
