East Nash Grass Perfectly Balance Nature’s Beauty And Heartbreak’s Grief With New Single, “Lonesome Song”

“The hardship of loss can seem irrelevant compared to the beauty of the world,” muses East Nash Grass’s James Kee of the spirit behind the band’s latest single, “Lonesome Song.” “Ringing through the valleys and fields, loneliness stands contrary to the rest of nature, which seems so well matched.” Like that well-matched relationship, the 2024 IBMA New Artist of the Year-winning quintet use a subtle, poignant side of their musicianship to balance the highs and lows of “Lonesome Song’s” lyrics with a happy-go-lucky bluegrass feel, twisting and turning with major melodies to land on minor tones, following the story beautifully.

“East Nash Grass is one of the greatest bluegrass bands out there at the moment…” wrote  Whiskey Riff, who premiered the music video illustrated and animated by Milly Raccoon a day early. Fans can watch the video for “Lonesome Song” now right here.

“Lonesome Song” is the latest release from East Nash Grass’s upcoming LP, All God’s Children—out August 22nd on Mountain Fever Records with Harry Clark on mandolin, Cory Walker on banjo, guitarist James Kee, Maddie Denton on fiddle, Jeff Partin on bass and Gaven Largent playing dobro. With All God’s Children, East Nash Grass have whittled down their immense catalog to an all-new, ten-song collection featuring five new originals, two deep-cut covers, two tunes from friends, and a string-band reimagining of a traditional Liberian chant; a feat only accomplished by the no-rules mentality of one of the most talked about bands on the scene. A worldly blend of spirituality, connectedness, and world-class picking—members of East Nash Grass formerly accompanied Dan Tyminski, Tim O’Brien, Sierra Hull, Rhonda Vincent, and more—All God’s Children is the next chapter in their interstellar rise to greatness.
