Denver-based funk-ska-reggae-jam-rock septet, Float Like a Buffalo, is pleased to announce FourZ, the first of three self-produced singles that will be released this winter, paving the way for a major announcement in the New Year. FourZ is a remix of the band’s original song Fours, released on their Vertigo EP in October 2020. The band is filled with excitement and gratitude about their newest single, as it is a stylistic departure from the type of music that Float Like a Buffalo has traditionally produced, blending heavy funk sounds and synth with Hip Hop lyrics written and performed by Denver’s One-ZHip Hop and record scratches from Michael Warkentin (OHNOKHAN). FourZ is to be released on Dec. 16, 2022 on all streaming services, followed by a celebratory show at Devil’s Craft in Winter Park on Dec. 17, 2022.

This remix of Fours was originally born in August 2019 at The Gothic Theater during Float Like a Buffalo’s packed Gone By Morning single and music video release party (https://youtu.be/-EqaMJm1Dvo). With rapping from One-ZHip Hop, beatbox by Mark Megibow of Face Vocal Band, and alto saxophone by Sarah Mount, the song was created as a celebration of the convergence of musical styles and the blurring of traditional genre lines. While it was a track that was intended to be played once live, the magic that it created in the crowd left the band feeling compelled to refine, produce and record the song to release to the masses.

The creation of FourZ was truly a team effort, with all members of the band using their skills outside of music to play a part. Float Like a Buffalo’s trombone and keys player, Cory “Beef” Meier, works as a Sound Technician at Denver’s own Dazzle at Baur’s and used his expertise to facilitate the band’s desire to self-produce and self-record FourZ and the other two Float Like a Buffalo singles to be released later this winter.

“We’re extremely lucky to have 7 people in this band who are not only excellent musicians, but also possess other skills that make the process of self-producing music a reality,” said Jason Clukies, Float Like a Buffalo’s bassist, “Recording these singles ourselves ensures that we maintain 100% creative control and that, at the end of the day when the songs are done, we can take complete ownership and pride in the work we’ve done.”

In addition to the release of three singles this winter, Float Like a Buffalo is releasing four commemorative enamel pins - one to accompany each single and one to commemorate their major announcement in early 2023. The pin for FourZ is available for purchase on the band’s website, floatlikeabuffalomusic.com, and references the single artwork created by Phil Pleckham, the band’s drummer. These pins are being released in extremely limited quantities, but will come together to form a unique collection for fans to cherish.

For those who wish to celebrate the Dec. 16th release of FourZ, Float Like a Buffalo is throwing a release party at Devil’s Craft in Winter Park, 47 Cooper Creek Way, the following evening, Dec. 17 at 8:00 p.m. The band first played Devil’s Craft over Labor Day Weekend 2022 and felt so welcomed by the crowd’s warm reception that they’ve decided to return for an intimate release show. The band’s two other singles will be announced in the coming weeks.
