The best was saved for last in terms of Eggy’s Here and How 2025 Spring Tour. Their final non-festival date at Manhattan’s Webster Hall on April 26, 2025, was a barn burner, much to the delight of the packed crowd. Their performance included a number of new and repeat covers, as well as a guest appearance by Hamilton Leithauser from the American indie-rock band The Walkmen.

The show began with the bubbly, funk-meets-prog-rock tune “Laurel.” Guitarist Jake Brownstein showed up ready to play, as evidenced by his well-executed work on the first song. Next, they found themselves caught on the other side with the newer tune “A Moment’s Notice.”

Bassist Mike Goodman | Eggy

The band proceeded with a slow-burning “Woah There,” which heated up considerably during the nine-minute jam. The Connecticut-based foursome then launched into “Smile,” sung by drummer Alex Bailey. Bassist Mike Goodman was the glue as the band delved into impressive improvisation. New lighting director Mike Jaws elevated the music with his incredible skills behind the boards.

Keyboardist Dani Battat | Eggy

Eggy brought out special guest Hamilton Leithauser to assist with vocals on two first-time-played tunes, starting with “American Music” by the Violent Femmes. Leithauser delivered stellar singing and a unique stage presence during this well-known ’90s song. He stayed onstage and contributed powerful vocals to the subsequent blues-rock classic “Lawyers, Guns and Money” by Warren Zevon. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed this notable collaboration.

The set concluded with a fourteen-minute “Shadow,” complete with layered beats by Bailey. The quartet came together at the end with a raging build-up and dramatic conclusion, giving fans a taste of what it’s like to live inside their light. They took a well-deserved break as the song wrapped.

The boys returned for round two and wasted no time diving into the high-energy “Trixieville.” Clocking in as the longest jam of the night, this eighteen-minute, prog-rock-inspired epic was exactly what the crowd needed. Brownstein continued his on-point guitar licks, culminating in more mesmerizing peaks.

Vintage Eggy tune “Burritos El Chavo 2” followed, carrying a similar vibe to “Smile” from set one. Keyboardist Dani Battat decorated the tune as the jam moved into minor-chord territory. This flowed perfectly into “Razi,” which morphed into a euphonious funk led by Goodman for the win. Battat’s keyboards added a trance-like feel to the dark jam.

They skillfully moved into “Shatter,” with Battat on clavinet. He eventually switched back to keyboards just as Brownstein jettisoned into a face-melting blues solo that transitioned into Heart’s “Barracuda.” This cover debuted at their annual Purim show on March 15, 2025, in Toronto, Canada. All four members brought this electrifying jam home with a tasty transition back into fan favorite “Burritos El Chavo 2.”

The show rolled on with a healthy serving of disco-funk during original tune “Must Come Down.” The band was firing on all cylinders as they masterfully rose into a blues-rock-fueled “Shatter,” ending the set with an affirmative bang. A re-listen of this nearly non-stop set two is highly recommended, as our notes indicated numerous highlights throughout the performance.

Drummer Alex Bailey | Eggy

For the encore, Eggy returned and once again enraptured the fans with Billy Joel’s “Why Should I Worry?”—last played at The Cutting Room in New York City on December 22, 2022. They crushed this version, sending fans home with huge smiles as they chanted “Eggy! Eggy!”
