Hannah Delynn, a Nashville-based vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, releases “For The Record” on May 9. The song is the first single off her forthcoming debut full-length album, Trust Fall, which is set for independent release on September 5. Originally from Florida, Hannah found her way to Music City USA in 2013 by way of New Zealand, British Columbia, and Australia, gathering stories (soon to be songs) along the way.
Finding freedom through vulnerability, Delynn crafts heartfelt songs of hope and healing. Hannah describes “For the Record” as “a prelude, of sorts, to the rest of the record with a cinematic string arrangement and the desire to communicate goodwill after a trying relationship. It comes from a place of choosing to move forward despite a lack of communication and clarity and the murky ambiguity and doubt that can easily create, even when both parties know there’s care. So, if I had one thing to say to this/that person, it’s, ‘I want the best for you’.”
Glide Magazine premiered “For the Record” and writes, “Placing Hannah’s vocals and lyrics front and center, the song is an intimate work of folk brimming with soulful beauty. Hannah is backed by subtle, swelling orchestral textures as she sings about relationships and seeking positivity. There is a powerful sense of emotion that is conveyed through the combination of the vocals and the strings, making this a work of sparse yet bold music.”
Produced by fellow songwriter Maya de Vitry, who also sings harmony and performs throughout the album, the pair brought together a fantastic cast of Nashville musicians to record. On "For the Record" special guest chamber musician Annaliese Kowert’s violin playing enhances the symphonic tone of the song, as she joins the mix of Hannah on acoustic guitar, de Vitry on synth, and Ethan Jodziewicz on arco bass. “For the Record” was co-written by Hannah and Josh Rennie-Hynes (an Australian artist now based in Nashville).
Hannah says, “Annaliese brings such easeful beauty and skill to the string arrangement written by Maya. I’m so proud of the collaborative and supportive spirit that is at the heart of this record.” The full album contains 11 original songs, which include harmonies by Alex Wilder (also on piano/Wurlitzer), Jodziewicz on arco and ukulele bass, as well as cameos by John Mailander on fiddle and electronics, Jordan Tice on guitar, and Lizzy Ross on harmony vocals.
“Trust Fall honors a powerful sea change in my life and reflects a season of deep grief, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak, as well as beauty, love, generosity, and friendship,” says Hannah. “I have been learning how to more deeply trust myself, others, and the world around me—life itself, really. Essentially, I have been learning to ask for help and to summon both courage and surrender. These songs are soul-friends, catharsis, comforters, and companions.”
Maya says, “Witnessing Hannah through the process of gathering these songs and then totally embodying these songs was amazing. I think that making this record was truly transformative for her. Being in the presence of her incredible vulnerability was transformative for me, too, and I think for everyone who stepped into her circle to be a part of the process. She leaned into so many nuanced places in her voice—strength, anger, regret, defiance, delight, grief—and I think she's going to be able to help a lot of people unlock some of these very tough doors in themselves.”
Hannah and friends started recording Trust Fall at a charming bluff-view cabin, “In The Pines,” nestled in the heart of the forest of Monteagle, TN. They went on to record further and bring in more guest musicians to finish the album in Jodziewicz’s home studio, The Secret Woods. Additional engineering was provided by Wilder at Phantom Studio in Gallatin, TN. Trust Fall was mixed by Jason Richmond at The River House in Hillsborough, NC, and mastered by John McLaggen at Parachute Mastering in New Brunswick, Canada.
Hannah has previously released three EPs—Making Friends (2023) with musicians and producers Will Honaker and Ross McReynolds, Naked Room Demos (2021) with Breck Alan engineering, and ROAM (2016) with Scott Schmadeke (aka Harpooner) producing and playing, Grant Gustafson, Dom Billett, and Dietrich Jon.
Studio collaborations include harmony vocals on Wila Frank’s new single “All That I Can Be” (Out April 2025) as well as Wila’s Agua Verde EP (‘Truly Broken,’ ‘Light of the Moon’ 2024), Maya de Vitry’s Infinite EP (2023), Ivan Theva’s Waiting Here For You EP (“Before You're Too Far Gone” 2024), and Lydia Luce’s EP Garden Songs (2022). Other song collaborations include Austin Fray’s “Love Like an Ocean” (2024), as a “Sound Freedom Expressionist” in John Mailander’s “Let The World In” (2025), a song from Ella Korth’s forthcoming album, produced by John Mailander, called, “Friendship and Longing.”
Hannah wholeheartedly values community and says, “We are like honeybees pollinating a field of wildflowers, bridging myriad musical circles filled with immensely creative folks. It is my wish that we continue bringing the spirit of beauty and collaboration into our communities, whatever art or work we're engaged in.”
She says of Trust Fall, “This title has been like a theme activated in almost every area of my life: career, love, family, friendship… all of it. Like I dared the universe! Be careful what you wish for; you just might get the opportunity to step into it.”
Hannah is currently running a Kickstarter to help with the release of the album.
