“Pork Fat” Sizzles Early on Grateful Web

Grateful Web is proud to host the exclusive premiere of “Pork Fat,” the newest single from guitarist Ari Joshua and his longtime musical coconspirators Skerik (saxophone), Delvon Lamarr (organ), and Grant Schroff (drums). Available July 11, 2025 on Music Factory Records, the track brings the sweaty thrill of a late-night club set straight into your speakers. Click play below to catch the full performance video, filmed live in a single glorious take.

Nearly a decade ago, Joshua and Lamarr packed Seattle bars every week with an organ-trio residency that specialized in greasy, deep-fried funk. “Pork Fat” was the crowd-favorite closer—an unstoppable groove that sent dancers home sweaty and smiling. On this studio outing they revisit the tune with even more fire: Lamarr’s Hammond growls with gritty vintage warmth; Joshua’s guitar slides between sting and slink; Schroff’s pocket keeps the floor moving; and Skerik’s tenor explodes with analog attitude.

Engineer Mell Dettmer (Studio Soli) captured the session live, preserving every spark while mixer Jason Gray (Blue Mallard Recording) and mastering ace Doug Krebs sharpened the edges until they gleamed. The single’s vivid cover—courtesy of Chris Ball at Deepgroove Designs—nods to the track’s down-home, deep-fried roots.

“Pork Fat” joins earlier Joshua/Lamarr collaborations—“Soulmine,” “Spooky,” and “Rare Groove”—that first mapped this steamy sonic territory. Two more cuts from the same sessions, “From the Vine” and “Scared of Eric,” are in the pipeline, alongside limited-edition T-shirts, sheet music, stems, and play-along bundles at musicfactoryrecords.com.

Each player carries heavyweight credentials: Skerik’s wild sax has rattled stages with Les Claypool and Garage A Trois; Lamarr fronts the chart-topping Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (Colemine Records); and Schroff powers the horn-funk juggernaut Polyrhythmics. Together with Joshua’s adventurous fretwork, they transform a simple riff into a four-minute throw-down that’s equal parts nostalgia and now.

Press play, turn it up, and let “Pork Fat” sizzle.
