J Boog (Jerry Afemata), a reggae singer of Samoan descent was born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, CA. He is the youngest of seven brothers and one sister who come from hard-working parents that relentlessly instilled a strong cultured household.

Brooklyn's Turkuaz has been bringing their nine-piece party music across the country all year and are on a break for two weeks before continuing a national run that ends on New Years Eve in Baltimore. New York City based gritty rock and rollers, A Shadow Of Jaguar, announce their debut LP RAW, due out October 2017. It's an all-new incarnation of alt-country that’s both high-energy and heartfelt, like the American highway's soundtrack. This year marked the release of the GasPops' debut full-length album, Resurrection, and the band’s first-ever vinyl release, Soul Mine, will be released at the Fox Theatre in Boulder on Saturday, December 16. 

Rock-reggae band, Tribal Seeds, are set to release a new EP, Roots Party, on 12/1. The EP will serve as a follow-up to the band’s 2014 full-length album, Representing, which charted on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums. In support of the release, the band will be kicking off their Roots Party Tour, with The Original Wailers and The Expanders, on January 10th in New York, NY. The 20+ date tour will include stops in Pittsburgh, PA, Minneapolis, MN, Las Vegas, NV and more, before wrapping up on February 17th in Ventura, CA.

Stephen and Ziggy Marley came to the Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles on November 1, to perform a unique concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of their fathers classic Reggae album, Exodus.  The ornate venue in the heart of the original theater district of America’s movie capital was slow to fill up on this sultry night. It was the final night of the World Series of Baseball, just several miles away at Dodger Stadium and the band delayed the show for nearly an hour.

Acclaimed bluegrass modernists YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND have announced a month-long trek of U.S. tour dates for winter 2018, kicking off January 10 in Pennsylvania.  The 24-show tour runs down the East Coast, through Florida for five nights and then circles up through the Midwest.  The Southern Belles will open 15 of the shows.
