Pat Metheny was born in Lee's Summit, MO on August 12, 1954 into a musical family. Starting on trumpet at the age of 8, Metheny switched to guitar at age 12. By the age of 15, he was working regularly with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City, receiving valuable on-the bandstand experience at an unusually young age. Metheny first burst onto the international jazz scene in 1974.

The Owsley Stanley Foundation, in partnership with the Tim Buckley Estate, is pleased to announce the seventh release from Owsley’s storied archive of live concert recordings – Bear’s Sonic Journals: Merry-Go-Round at the Carousel, a previously unreleased 1968 live concert featuring Tim Buckley, accompanied by John Miller (bass), David Friedman (vibraphone), and Carter “C.C.” Collins (percussion).

Phish has announced plans for a combined Summer and Fall Tour, set to get underway July 28 at Rogers, AR’s Walmart AMP and then travel through a four-night Halloween run – beginning October 28 – at Las Vegas, NV’s MGM Grand Garden Arena.

A long, long time ago lived a lonely newspaper boy. Now, 50 years later, that lonely newspaper boy is the topic of the “American Pie” inspired children’s book authored by Grammy Hall of Fame inductee Don McLean with Judith A. Proffer. Being released in September 2021 by Backbeat Books, the 48-page book contains 40 illustrations, illustrated by Yoko Matsuoka, and will retail for $19.95.

The Neal Casal Music Foundation (NCMF) continued its mission of donating musical instruments to students with a gift of guitars, amplifiers, a keyboard and other accessories to Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway, NJ where the late musician graduated in the class of 1987. The gear presented to Morris Knolls was purchased by NCMF through funds raised from outreach to Casal's extensive fanbase, as well as, the foundation's arrangement of a donation from iconic instrument manufacturer, Fender Guitars.

Hawaii singer-songwriter Paul Izak recently released a new EP recorded live from his farm in the back roads of Waimanalo, Hawaii. The 5-track EP fittingly titled Live and  Acoustic at Yogarden features uplifting lyrics, funky rhythms and impressive harmonica riffs  performed in an unparalleled setting by a power-house trio, including Sam Ites on drums/percussion and Asaiah Scott aka ‘The MAAD King’ on bass. The EP is currently live on Izak’s YouTube channel and available on all streaming services.

Pink Talking Fish played at one of Ithaca’s most beautiful venues, the State Theatre of Ithaca, for the town's Grateful Dead Day in celebration of the famous 5/8/77 Cornell Show…it was the 44th anniversary! In true PTF fashion, they added in Dead songs to their repertoire of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads & Phish. The band dove deep & really homed in on the Dead catalog and the spirit of the original show, deemed by some as their greatest performance ever.
