The final day of Outside Lands came and went, and I have never been more upset to see a festival end. My body, on the other hand, is thrilled. I spent the cloudy “Sunday Funday” of Golden Gate Park’s music festival planted at Land’s End Stage in Polo Field, determined to see Jack White with my own eyes as opposed to on the Megatron screen.

Widespread Panic has announced the October 16 release of Wood, a double live CD featuring selections from the band’s first-ever fully acoustic 2012 Wood Tour. After a highly praised 2011 debut, Washington DC’s The Funk Ark surprised the critics with a soon and even tighter follow up album: High Noon. In just a couple of years since the release of From The Rooftops on ESL Music, the world funk ensemble has established itself as one of the strongest players in the scene both in the studio and with their high-octane live performances.

But the 11-song DREAMS OF THE SAN JOAQUIN, to be released September 25, 2012 by independent Blix Street Records, does both. Melody Walker’s debut album, GOLD RUSH GODDESS, will be released nationally Aug. 28, but she and partner Jacob Groopman already have reason to celebrate: With their band Front Country, they won the band competition at RockyGrass, the July festival founded 40 years ago by bluegrass icon Bill Monroe.

Canadian pop-rock icons Tegan and Sara are hitting the road this Fall. Before linking up with The Black Keys for the west coast leg of their arena tour, Tegan and Sara just announced that they'll be playing a handful of club shows leading into it. They'll hit Vancouver, Seattle, Boise, and Eugene before playing at the Harmony By The Bay Festival in San Francisco. Additionally, the band is confirmed to play Austin City Limits this October.Tegan & Sara have completed their new album, which is set to come out in early 2013.

Ben Sollee is excited to announce that he will be performing at eTown's brand new facility, eTown Hall, on August 23rd, 2012 for an intimate evening of music and conversation. The concert will be taped in front of a live audience for future broadcast, and will also feature Australian songstress Missy Higgins.

Rachel Brown will be releasing her debut EP Building Castles on September 18th, 2012.The singer-songwriter, who was born and raised in New York City with Ethiopian, Bermudian and Southern roots, fuses pop, Caribbean, Hawaiian, country, hip-hop and world sounds into Building Castles' six self-penned songs.The EP's first single, "Bumblebee," will be accompanied by a music video directed by Rex Arrow Productions founder Ian Wolfson (Mac Miller, Nelly).With no formal musical training, Brown found her voice organically.
