Acclaimed folk duo Ordinary Elephant (husband/wife singer/songwriters Crystal Hariu-Damore and Pete Damore) returns with their enthralling self-titled album on May 3rd. After years of non-stop touring, Ordinary Elephant finds the artists at home in rural Louisiana, sharing stories and embracing stillness. The result is a powerful, stripped-down, intimate collection of emotive and character-driven songs.

The International Folk Music Awards – presented by Folk Alliance International (FAI), a 501(c)3 and the foremost global nonprofit for folk music— took place last night as part of the opening of the conference and Best of 2023 awards were won by Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway (Album of the Year); Billy Strings (Artist of the Year); and Iris Dement (Song of the Year). The track delves into the harrowing reality of lynching in the American South, presenting a poignant narrative that challenges listeners to confront the historical atrocities often overlooked in the country music genre. My Black Country is Randall’s reclamation of the history of Black contributions to the genre, specifically hers.
