Mississippi-born, Memphis-raised, Grammy Award-winning music legend Charlie Musselwhite will release Blues Gave Me A Ride, the first single from his upcoming album, Mississippi Son, on Friday, May 6. “Blues tells the truth in a world that’s full of lies,” Musselwhite sings in the original song -- on which he also plays guitar and harmonica -- and is at once telling his own story and plainly summing up the genre’s timelessness.

Legendary Afrobeat artist and Kuti family scion SEUN KUTI & EGYPT 80 has an upcoming US and European tour, manager Annie Ohayon of Knitting Factory Management announced today. Seun and his Egypt 80 band kick off their tour in the UK on June 1 and are currently booked through September 23, at the new Format Festival in Bentonville, Arkansas, USA.

Dialoguing with centuries of Sephardic Jewish women across a global forced diaspora, Henley’s re-writing and re-working old Sephardic ballads in the endangered Ladino language, uncovering a heritage of fiercely independent women that kept these traditions alive over the years. She’s also writing new songs in Ladino, keeping the tradition fresh.

The Sweetwater 420 Festival in Atlanta, Ga continued into the third day with a high octane line up and the largest crowd the festival has ever seen. It was difficult moving around at times given the huge crowd, though nonetheless very enjoyable and full of southern hospitality. The music was anchored by The Trey Anastasio Band, Umphrey's McGee and Goose.

As a lover of the dancehall himself, this new riddim compilation titled Still Go A Dance, produced by Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley comes as no surprise. Singles like the title track Still Go A Dance by Christopher Ellis, or Capleton and Yami Bolo’s Chosen people stole audiences when they were released. Now, the entire compilation is available for purchase and streaming. In addition to the singles, A powerful new track by the legendary Beres Hammond titled Hold Yuh Corner, is among the compilation.

Country singer and actor Mickey Gilley, known for launching the Urban Cowboy movement in Country music and hit songs including "Stand By Me," "Room Full of Roses" and "Lonely Nights," died Saturday in Branson, Missouri.

Gilley was 86 and had just come off of the road, his favorite place, having played ten shows in April. He passed peacefully with his family and close friends by his side.
