Today, two-time GRAMMY nominated New Orleans-based, Afro-Indigenous funk collective Cha Wa released their new single “Music Is My Medicine,” a feel-good funk cousin of Sly and the Family Stone with a message as universal as its sound is uplifting. The track is the second to be shared from their new album Rise Up, out on August 29, the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

On July 15, 1975 - Clifford Antone officially opened the first music venue on Austin’s Sixth Street, tapping into his Gulf Coast roots with an inaugural performance by Clifton Chenier (The King Of Zydeco) and his Red Hot Louisiana Band. 50 years and countless groundbreaking sets later, Antone’s fittingly celebrates another milestone tonight with The Red Hot Louisiana Band on stage - now led by C.J. Chenier - who began performing at Antone’s with his late father as a young musician in 1978.

Legendary funk sextet Lettuce announced today the December 3 release of Cook via the band’s own Lettuce Records. The band released the new single, “Gold Tooth,” to accompany the announcement.

Improvisational rock band Spafford will close out their 2025 fall tour with a special three-night run in Colorado this November, bringing their signature genre-bending jams to some of the state’s most intimate venues.
