KATCHAFIRE, the award winning roots reggae band from New Zealand is coming back to the U.S. showcasing their unique sound with four shows in California. The eight piece band will kick off their tour at the One Love Cali Reggae Fest (Feb. 9th) in Long Beach, CA then to San Diego at the Music Box (Feb. 10th), and Pomona at the Glass House (Feb. 11th), and finally to San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall (Feb. 12th).

A lively capacity crowd erupted as Goose kicked off their 2020 winter/spring tour with a high-octane rendition of their original “Drive,” followed by a seamless segue into Wes Montgomery classic “Switchin’.” Attendees maintained their focus throughout the first set, as colorful solos by Rich Mitarotonda (guitar, vocals) and Peter Anspach (guitar, keys, vocals) carried “Lead the Way” and “Elizabeth.” For many, the highlight of set one was the 13-minute rendition of the Bill Withers classic “Lovely Day,” followed by a rousing rendition of “Honeybee.,” debuted last month at Goosemas.

Anyone who’s seen guitarist Wayne Krantz playing trio lately at his ongoing 55 Bar residency in NYC has witnessed the deepening connection to spontaneous improvisation, making his new release, Write Out Your Head, even more of a surprise than its larger ensemble might promise. Though characteristically personal and free-spirited, the record is, aside from the drums, almost entirely devoid of improvisation.
