The 7th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival will take place at the historic Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 27-29, 2016.  The top tier national festival is the premier gathering for the progressive U.S. Reggae and roots music movement, bringing the scene together over Memorial Day weekend in beautiful Monterey, CA.

Today, progressive funk collective The Motet announced 2016 Winter Tour plans. The tour launches on January 28 in Solana Beach and zigzags up California and Nevada with stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Crystal Bay before ending in on San Francisco February 5 and 6. On February 18, the tour picks back up on the other side of the country in Greensboro, NC and in Asheville, NC for two nights with Umphrey’s McGee, and continues on through February 28 with stops in along the east coast and Midwest.
 

Colorado-based jamband, Digg, are excited to announce the premiere of their debut album, There Are Days, on Grateful Web today Friday, November 13th. A  bonus track will premiere on Glide Magazine Monday, November 16th and the full length album will be available for purchase on iTunes November 20th.

The cult funk ensemble Brooklyn Funk Essentials has released its fifth studio album, Funk Ain’t Ova, worldwide today. It coincides with the 20th anniversary of the celebrated debut album, Cool & Steady & Easy, and offers a collection of eclectic songs using BFE’s signature melange of funk, disco, jazz, ska, latin and house flavors.

Acclaimed New Orleans-based vibraphonist and percussionist Mike Dillon is working on a new album of Elliott Smith songs entitled Functioning Broke. The collection is planned for release in Spring 2016. The first single "Half Right" is available today for download and streaming.

Emmylou Harris & John Paul White have released "Kyrie," the second single from the upcoming Mercyland: Hymns For The Rest Of Us, Volume II compilation. "Kyrie" is available today as a single for purchase and streaming at all digital outlets. The full Mercyland compilation will be released on January 15, 2016 on Mercyland Records. 

Today, Electric Forest (EF) announced the return of the 6th annual music and camping festival to the legendary Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan on June 23-26, 2016.  In conjunction with the announcement, EF released the first video of a brand new four part series titled, Once Upon The Forest: Awakening. This beautiful video series will in culminate December, when fans will give fans the first chance to purchase tickets to EF16.

A rather literal translation of the phrase “break a leg” befell singer Sheena Rattai of Canadian roots trio Red Moon Road in 2012, forcing a tour cancellation and months of bedside songwriting. Though an unlucky break from a Frisbee-catch-gone-horribly-wrong, it brought their new album Sorrows and Glories to its explosive fruition.
