I have this theory that Thailand is blessed with a secret energy: wherever you go, it seems to unlock a slice of your spirit you never knew existed. From the moment I stepped into that lush jungle clearing and spotted two elephants cooling off in the river, I knew I was in for something magical. My guide handed me a bright pink top and, within minutes, I was knee-deep in muddy water, laughing at the playful sprays from these gentle giants. One of them wrapped its trunk around me in a sort of affectionate hug, and I swear my heart swelled three sizes.
