Gregg Hill began writing songs in seventh grade, but he never really thought of himself as a performer — until he moved to New Orleans five years ago. Inspired by the Big Easy and other artists who call it home, Hill embarked on yet another new chapter in a life that has contained many, honing his live-audience entertaining skills — while forging relationships with those artists.

Blue Note Jazz Club confirms a select run of shows with New York-based musician Nick Hakim. Kicking off on November 14, the mini-residency marks Hakim’s debut performance at the historic venue. When I was back there in ‘seminary school’ in the late ‘60s – actually a third-rate parochial school in Cincinnati but definitely the same kind of spineless swine and cemented minds running the joint, I began seeking my mental oasis in the psychedelic and progressive rock of ‘underground’ FM radio.
