Come 1972, Joni Mitchell’s singular songwriting talent and poetic gifts were undeniable. Fresh off the back-to-back Platinum-certified releases of 1970’s Ladies of the Canyon and 1971’s Blue — totemic albums whose artfulness and ubiquity would influence generations of songwriters — Mitchell had grown wary of mounting media scrutiny. Everything from her style choices to romantic partners became the subject of far more gossip column inches than were ever dedicated to the lifestyle minutiae of her male counterparts.

Today, the legendary Jessi Colter announces the release of her new album, Edge of Forever, marking an exalting return to the chart-topping sound, style and songwriting that originally made her the First Lady of Outlaw Country. Out October 27th on Appalachia Record Co., the ten-track collection was produced by Margo Price and mixed by Shooter Jennings, son of Colter and her late husband Waylon Jennings.

Ghost of Vroom – the acclaimed band comprised of veteran singer-songwriter Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing), bassist Andrew “Scrap” Livingston, and drummer Madden Klass – have announced plans for their biggest headline tour thus far. North American dates begin November 3 at Gabe’s in Iowa City, IA, and then travels through mid-November. General on-sales for all announced dates begin Friday, August 18 at 12:00 pm (local).

The Roxy have expanded their 50th anniversary celebrations, announcing a series of new events and festivities taking place this September in conjunction with the historic milestone. In an LA Times front-page feature highlighting the initial wave of “Roxy50” activity, it was announced that Neil Young with Crazy Horse would play a special benefit show at the club on September 20. Now, a second night has been added in their return to The Roxy, taking place September 21.
