Veteran composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Darryl Alexander will usher in the summer with the release of his soulful new single “Seen It Before” on June 27, 2025. The buoyant track features Billboard-charting saxophonist Jackiem Joyner, whose bright melodies glide over Alexander’s rhythmic pocket to create an irresistible, forward-leaning groove. Keyboardist Pete Tokar (Rhodes), guitarist Ken Karsh, and bassist Wilbur Krebs round out the ensemble, delivering a performance that feels tailor-made for warm-weather playlists and late-night jazz radio alike.

“Seen It Before” offers the first glimpse of Alexander’s forthcoming 11-song album Morning Calls, due this September. Conceived around the moment when night yields to dawn, the album celebrates resilience and fresh starts through an eclectic blend of contemporary jazz, bossa nova, neo-soul, blues, and flashes of EDM-infused funk. In addition to Joyner’s dynamic presence, the record welcomes acclaimed saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa on several tracks, forging a vibrant dialogue between two of today’s most expressive horn voices.

A seasoned studio professional, Alexander’s music has reached millions through placements on Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, The Weather Channel, E! Entertainment Television, Lifetime, Fox Business, and numerous in-flight audio programs. His discography stretches back to 1999’s Coast to Coast and includes audience favorites such as “Tea for Two,” “Diamond in the Sky,” and “Transitions.” Beyond the studio, he has shared stages and sessions with a diverse roster of jazz heavyweights, among them Kenny Blake, Mark Earley (Roomful of Blues), Brett Williams (Snarky Puppy), Kim Pensyl, and Brandon Howard.

Alexander’s creative reach also extends into broadcast media and community service. He previously hosted the popular “Sunday Jazz” program on Cleveland’s Star 94.7 FM and has dedicated significant energy to non-profit initiatives aimed at preventing youth substance use and interpersonal violence, leveraging his experience as a federally funded grant writer and reviewer.

With “Seen It Before,” Darryl Alexander reaffirms his role as a nimble curator of grooves and moods, setting the stage for Morning Calls to become one of the year’s must-hear contemporary jazz releases.

“Seen It Before” will be available on all major streaming platforms June 27, 2025.
