Goose Welcome My Morning Jacket's Jim James For Historic Night At Louisville Palace

Goose closed their two-night stand at the Louisville Palace in Louisville, KY, with an evening that already sits among the band’s most storied performances. The night’s defining moment came when Louisville’s own Jim James, the iconic frontman of My Morning Jacket, emerged to join the band for a career-highlight collaboration. For the band, the sit-in underscored their continued ascent in the American rock landscape, and for the Louisville faithful, it was a rare convergence of hometown pride and boundary-pushing improvisation.

The show opened with the slow-build funk of “Jive II,” sliding into the indie stylings of “Atlas Dogs.” From there, Goose leaned into the groove-forward “Earthling or Alien?” before shifting into the New Orleans backbeat-driven “Turned Clouds.” A soaring “How It Ends,” a standout rocker from their 2025 studio album Everything Must Go, gave way to the conclusion of “Slow Ready,” picking up where the unfinished version left off the night before.

Set two opened with a soaring but unfinished “Arrow” before flowing into an exploratory “Rosewood Heart.” A psychedelic excursion through The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” paved the way for a towering “Dripfield.” During the song’s conclusion, in a moment that electrified the Palace, James emerged on stage with guitar in hand. He led Goose and the Louisville crowd through his own “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.),” before returning to close the night with a raucous encore of The Band’s “Don’t Do It.” The collaboration brought two generations of genre-defying artistry together on one stage.
