Critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and guitarist Trey Hensley has officially unveiled his brand-new solo single, “Can’t Outrun The Blues,” now available on all digital and streaming platforms via Pinecastle Records. The release marks the latest milestone in Hensley’s acclaimed career, coming on the heels of his recent recognition as the 2025 IBMA Guitar Player of the Year—a prestigious honor he also achieved in 2023. Fans can download or stream the full song HERE.

Written by Hensley and Bobby Starnes, “Can’t Outrun The Blues” was produced by seven-time Grammy winner Brent Maher (The Judds, Kenny Rogers, Merle Haggard) and recorded live in the studio with a powerhouse lineup of musicians including Stuart Duncan (fiddle, mandolin), Marc Rogers (bass), John Alvey (drums) and John Cowan (harmony vocals). Engineered and mastered by Charles Yingling, the track showcases Hensley’s fiery flatpicking guitar work and soulful vocals, capturing the grit and emotion of its message. The release will be made even more special as Hensley celebrates his birthday tomorrow night (September 27) with a solo performance at the iconic Grand Ole Opry.

Hensley has carved out a remarkable path across Bluegrass, Americana, Folk and Roots music, first gaining widespread recognition as one-half of an award-winning duo with Rob Ickes. Over the years, he has shared the stage and studio with an extraordinary list of collaborators including Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Earl Scruggs, Dolly Parton, Taj Mahal, Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Frampton, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Rodney Crowell, Leftover Salmon and Little Feat. Trey kicked off 2025 with a Grammy win alongside Taj Mahal for Swingin’ Live at the Church in Tulsa. With more than 300,000 combined social media followers, his reach continues to grow as he puts the finishing touches on his upcoming full-length album, set for release in March 2026.
