After an extraordinary 32-year run as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for the iconic Steve Miller Band, Joseph Wooten is stepping into a new creative chapter. With the band concluding its final touring cycle, Wooten is turning his full focus to solo music, production, and advocacy, marking a fresh era for the veteran musician and thought leader.

“I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with Steve Miller for over three decades. It’s been a blessing, a classroom, and a passport to the world,” says Wooten. “Now, it’s time to pour that experience into new music that speaks to the times—and to the soul.”

Joseph Wooten’s resume reads like a masterclass in musical versatility. As the longtime keyboardist for Steve Miller Band, Wooten toured globally, performing for millions and appearing on major television broadcasts, award shows, and classic recordings. Known for his virtuosic command of keys, deep groove, and emotive voice, Wooten became a staple of the band’s legendary live sound.

Outside the Steve Miller Band, Wooten has also earned acclaim as a solo artist, songwriter, producer, and member of the GRAMMY-nominated Wooten Brothers - a powerhouse ensemble that includes Joseph and his brothers: bass icon Victor Wooten, drummer Roy “Futureman” Wooten of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, and esteemed guitarist/music educator Regi Wooten.

Wooten will also be hosting events through his charity foundation, I Matter! You Matter. These include a benefit concert for Wounded Veterans at the historic Rudy’s Jazz Room (named for his late brother Rudy Wooten) on October 16, as well as his annual birthday and holiday celebration at Analog in the Hutton Hotel on December 14, both in Nashville, TN.
