After a five-year hiatus, songwriter and artist Naø makes her solo debut with her new single, “Funny Bone,” a re-imagined version of a track that first echoed through the Mid-South metalcore scene a decade ago.

Originally recorded and performed by her band, You The Few, “Funny Bone” instantly became a fan favorite—an anthem of emotional unrest that’s now reborn with sharper edges. Reconstructed with haunting melodies, cinematic tension, and waves of distorted catharsis, the song is a harrowing meditation on madness and memory.

“This one has followed me for ten years, and I couldn’t seem to shake it,” Naø shares. “After so long, I felt like I owed it to myself—and the song—to give it a second life with a new arrangement and new perspective.”

Sonically intense and thematically heavy, “Funny Bone” traces the slow mental unraveling that comes with disconnection—from the world, friends, and eventually oneself. It captures the weight of depression and suicide by amplifying the tension between beauty and torture that often haunts the creative mind.

“Even more than the lyrics, the delivery of the song has always been where its power lives,” Naø adds. “Performing it live used to take everything out of me, and I wanted that to come through even stronger in this recording—I wanted to feel the weight of every single time I sang it.”

Produced by longtime friend and former bandmate Kameron Walker, the track’s revival feels both full circle and serendipitous. “It’s fitting that a song I wrote so long ago was produced by someone I haven’t made music with in just as long,” Naø says. “We’ve always had a real groove for making music together, and between the two of us, we covered everything and ended up with something that’s raw, honest, and exactly right.”

“Funny Bone” is now available on all major music platforms. Fans can also follow Naø on Instagram for more.

About Naø:

Naø is a writer and solo artist emerging from the shadows of the heavy music scene. Born into music, she reached for every instrument she could and found her way to metal and hardcore through both study and existential restlessness. Living in the tension of faith and doubt, life and death, peace and anguish, she found music that told the whole truth and never looked back. After fronting a metalcore band for nearly 10 years, Naø now returns solo—reclaiming her story and chaos through a genre-blurring sound and lyrics that put beauty and brutality toe-to-toe. Fusing the raw emotional weight of emo songwriting with the crushing intensity of melodic metalcore and the ghostly textures of indie rock, the sound that surfaces is fractured, poignant, and utterly real.
