Arizona blues-rockers Teskey release their debut full-length album, White Wolf, on Friday, May 30, 2025. In the spirit of late-’60s/early-’70s British blues-rock records, White Wolf fuses elements of traditional blues, psychedelic rock, jazz fusion, Delta blues, and alternative rock. Recorded at Mind’s Eye Studio in Phoenix, the hard-hitting performances capture the raw energy and power of a live show while retaining the refined sound quality of a modern record.
“It dawned on me that many of my favorite records—Led Zeppelin I; Jimi Hendrix’s Are You Experienced; Cream’s Disraeli Gears; Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble’s Texas Flood; The Rolling Stones’ Let It Bleed; The Paul Butterfield Blues Band; and all the early Delta and Chicago blues albums—were recorded live in the studio with limited tracks,” says Brandon Teskey, the group’s guitarist, lead vocalist, and co-founder. “Those albums have a raw energy. They left their mistakes in, or even used them to their advantage. Instead of layering each individual instrument to a click track—which can end up sounding sterile—they relied on the cohesiveness of the group and the musicianship of the band to carry the performances. I wanted to make an album like that.”
Teskey formed in 2024 when blues guitarist Brandon Teskey (formerly of Until the Sun) and drummer Brandon Gaddy joined forces, shortly before bassist Matt Baldwin and keyboardist Peter Murphy came on board. The band spent the better part of a year writing and rehearsing before heading into the studio to record White Wolf. The songs on the album cover a wide range of topics, including past heartbreak, depression, love, redemption, the duplicity of human nature, and Brandon Teskey’s wife’s year-long battle with and recovery from cancer.
“Brandon Teskey’s skillful and emotive guitar work alternates beautifully between rousing rock riffs and slow, moving blues solos,” wrote Blues Blast magazine in a review of his previous project, Until the Sun. “Guitarist Brandon Teskey plays some exquisite solos,” opined Music-news.com.
“From the opening growl of the title track ‘White Wolf,’ Teskey makes their mission clear—this is no tame journey. It’s a howl in the night, gritty and primal, with guitar work that feels both feral and finessed,” writes Yeti Radio. “The vocals? Smoky, soulful, and weathered just right—like they’ve been baptized in heartbreak and desert heat. Few modern acts channel the soul and storm of classic blues-rock quite like Teskey.”
