San Diego-based musical outfit Slightly Stoopid releases “The Upside Down,” a collaboration with legendary MCs B-Real (Cypress Hill) and Chali 2na (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli). A funky reflection on the power of love in turbulent times, the track has already become a fan favorite during the band’s high-energy live shows. It was recently performed with B-Real and Chali 2na at Cali Vibes Festival in Long Beach, and again with Chali 2na during a spirited set at KROQ’s Sound Space — watch that performance HERE.
An impassioned plea for unity and compassion, “The Upside Down” finds co-lead vocalists Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald delivering sharp harmonies and lyrics like, “the world needs some / more love inside it cause we’re all still one / it’s time to stand and walk away,” over punchy horns. A standout moment in Slightly Stoopid’s shows, the song continues to anchor their ongoing Step Into The Sun summer tour.
Speaking about the track, the band noted: “We’re stoked to release ‘The Upside Down’ with hip hop legends B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chali 2na. The song has an underlying theme of more love in this world. The magnitude of music bringing us all together is real and supersedes the narrative of negativity in this life. “The Upside Down” is the latest glimpse of Slightly Stoopid’s upcoming tenth studio album, due out next year. It follows the spirited single “Step Into The Sun,” released in early June. Recorded at the renowned Sonic Ranch studios in El Paso, Texas, the new album will mark the band’s first full-length release in eight years, following 2018’s Everyday Life, Everyday People.
Currently hitting major markets across the U.S., the Step Into The Sun tour has already brought the band’s signature musical chemistry and infectious energy to cities like Pittsburgh, Boston, Asbury Park, Charleston, West Palm Beach. Festival highlights include Cali Vibes, Point Break, and Brighter Daze. The band continues their cross-country run with upcoming appearances at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Reggae Rise Up (Oregon and Las Vegas), and their annual return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Along with the new music and summer tour, Slightly Stoopid recently announced the 11th edition of their Closer to the Sun all-inclusive concert vacation in Mexico. A one-of-a-kind concert experience known for its vibrant community of fans, artists, and crew, the vacation includes three shows by Slightly Stoopid with a stacked lineup of additional performers. Attendees can expect multiple shows by Dirty Heads, Pepper, The Elovaters, The Movement, HIRIE, DENM, Little Stranger, and Z-Trip. Additional concerts from Rebelution, and Rome, plus a special ‘Traffic Jam” performance by Damian Jr. Gong & Stephen Marley, and an Old Soul Unplugged set by Stephen Marley to round out the musical vacation.
