It is with profound sorrow that we mark the passing of a true legend in the realm of rock and roll, Randy Meisner, former bassist and founding member of The Eagles. Meisner passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023. He was 77.
Born on March 8, 1946, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Randy found his calling in music at an early age. By the time he was a teenager, he was immersed in the local music scene, playing in a variety of bands and honing the skills that would eventually propel him to the global stage.

2023 marks 75 years since the iconic independent label Folkways Records was founded by Moses Asch and Marian Distler in New York City, and, to honor this anniversary, Smithsonian Folkways will be reissuing four classic albums from their storied catalog. As the debut album from their own record label, Grateful Dead Records, the studio LP marked a period of transition, growth, endurance and optimism for the band, introducing a fresh lineup that included new members Keith and Donna Godchaux on keys and vocals.

Graham Nash, the venerable icon of classic rock, graced the stage once again for a two-night, sold-out spectacle at the Lobero Theatre on the 15th and 16th of July.
