THE DAMN TRUTH was formed by lead vocalist/guitarist Lee-la Baum and lead guitarist/vocalist Tom Shemer who met at a hippie festival near the Sea of Galilee in Israel—both were completely nude--and have been together ever since. The power of their love is a driving force for their 60’s-inspired ethos showcased on Now Or Nowhere. Chris Smither, Samirah Evans, Peter Mulvey, John Medeski and many more will take part in a streaming benefit concert Berkshire Sounds: A Bash to Bring Back Music to Western Massachusetts and the Hudson Valley. Hosted by Signature Sounds, the show will feature an eclectic mix of musicians from across western Massachusetts and New York’s Hudson Valley. All proceeds will go to the New England Musicians Relief Fund (NEMRF), an organization that provides grants to working musicians facing financial difficulties.

There is no denying Steve Goodman’s impact on the world of songwriting. Omnivore Recordings’ 2019 reissues of his 1980s Red Pajamas Records efforts contained a flurry of demo recordings drawn from that era. Live ’69 demonstrated his early career abilities as an expert interpreter of other writers’ songs. But the genesis of Steve Goodman, the songwriter, and the legend he would become hasn’t been as well documented. Until now.
