The Crooked Vines, a rock-pop collective of funk-fueled jams, have had the immense fortune of working with many talented New Orleans musicians throughout the band's history. Some of the most recent lineup changes are propelling the band into exciting new arenas and musical explorations.

Hilary Kaufmann and Robert Watts have known one another since 1994, but their musical paths didn’t converge until 10 years ago, when Kaufmann recruited Watts to play bass and drums in a church band she led. They began writing together, then recorded an EP and started performing around town as These Fine Moments. That led to touring, and more recording, and before they knew it, they’d logged 10 years of fine folk-pop moments. They’re celebrating that milestone with the Feb. 26 release of their fifth album, Season 10; on Feb. 28, they’ll live-stream a free performance at 6 p.m.

The only time getting punched in the face feels good is when it's done by a song. ‘Miss Mooney’, the latest effort by The Eckels Brothers does not build towards anything, instead starting off at the height of its energy, which it maintains throughout. It punches…and it feels fine. From the opening descending guitar flick, this modern-day blues rocker holds you tightly in its web of bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar drums, keys and percussion; all played by brothers Shawn and Joel.

Ahead of his forthcoming EP release on February 26, singer/songwriter/guitarist CHRIS ROBERTS is out with a rousing new single, "Get Down," and it is coming at a time when a lot of folks could use the message; listen here.

Written by Combs, Strings and Wyatt Durrette, the song was produced, recorded and mixed by Chip Matthews earlier this month in Nashville, TN. In addition to Combs and Strings, the song features Charlie Worsham (acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo), Royal Masat (bass) and Eric Darken (percussion).

With two full albums of refreshingly original material already to her credit, singer-songwriter and banjoist Gina Furtado has quickly become one of the most powerfully individualistic artists working in the bluegrass vein today. Now, following the success of the whimsically lighthearted “Alley Cat,” The Gina Furtado Project is back with “Gone,” a new single that offers further evidence of her unique melodic, rhythmic and lyric sensibilities.

What if longtime friends Jim Brunberg and Ben Landsverk came clean about the fact that their bevy of instrumental theme songs and film soundtracks—including the New York Times’ famed podcast The Daily, Cheryl Strayed’s Dear Sugar Radio, and many indie film scores—were only half of the story? Well, there’s no need to get rhetorical, because the day has come for Brunberg and Landsverk, known collectively as the Portland-based duo Wonderly, to share their other side with the world.

Inspired by the American Southwest, it was written on his honeymoon during trips to Tucson, Bisbee, Joshua Tree, and other desert destinations. The six-song collection is everything its title promises: a celebration of the thrill of getting lost in something new, whether it’s a landscape, a sound, a perspective, or all of the above.
